ISIS/ISIL conflict in Syria/Iraq (No OpEd, No Politics)

Since Assad survived all these years and vast majority of the Syrians are in the territories his government controls, that indicates he does have sufficient support from the people
We all know what methods he used to get the 'support'. The ONLY thing that back him up is that he kept those crazy islamic extremists from getting their nest next to Turkey or Europe. His merits ends here. Russia's support is pretty big hint here. Where was the last time they made anyone happy? When they gave the toilet paper to the people of Novorossiya few days ago? When they liberated Northern Osseitia from 'oppresive' Georigian rule? lol, you can't give anything good they did in the past century aside from them getting more money into their pockets.

Oh, and they backed up to the end Caucescu to the end. This guy that Romanian people loved, you heard about him? Not to mention many, many other 'heroes' that they backed up. Most of them get pissed on their graves up to this time. And the story isn't anything better if you judge Assad...

The same thing can be said of Iraq where the US shut out Sunnis in positions of power after the fall of Saddam. Was that liberation? And we know many in Saddam's military that were shut out became leading members of ISIS. Iraqi Sunnis can say the same things about the US backed Iraqi Shia controlled government described of Assad's rule.

I'm sorry. Your rambling. What for example is that about "Northern Osseitia"?

Assif, no one, dictators included, will be able to maintain control without substantial support from the people. Since Assad survived all these years and vast majority of the Syrians are in the territories his government controls, that indicates he does have sufficient support from the people. Sultan and everyone else have no right to dictate what Syrian people should do

That's a good point and a very good one

But very early on the alternative to Assad looked very bleak because of the "islamic state"

Syrians have two choices " bad" or "worse" they picked bad

I am.....suspicious. The timing is too close to the movements of the Turkish army on the border. Not going to spout conspiracy theories, but I wouldn't be surprised if there's more here than meets the eye.

The Reuters article in Jura's second post describes the Kurds as 'anti-government.' Right. And I guess that the SAA are Good friends of IS, by that logic.

Sadly, even if it was the Russians who bombed the hospital, they can use the USAF in Kunduz as a shield. And protests to the contrary will weaken as a result.
