Possible. But I also think the aft mast may definitely not be indicative of the actual configuration of the ship, and much of the mock up which has "white paint" is actually not indicative of the configuration and geometry of the actual ship and is mock up exclusive (such as the upper part of the aft mast and the lower half of the overall mock up as a whole).

It also may well be possible that an aft radar is being tested elsewhere at a completely different site.
The persistent rumours of 055's sensor configuration also still tend to include mentions of an aft radar, and all that together makes me think that at present there is a case to be made that the real ship most likely will include an aft radar.
What would be the function of a large separate mechanically scanned radar on the type 055? The mockup suggests it already has two separate sets of electronically scanned radars, probably operating in different bands, one on the corners of the superstructure, one in the mast over the forward superstructure.

Different bands offering different characteristics optimized for different targets at different distances I presume.
L band (or other longer wavelength) radars would be better for VSR and also potentially counter stealth roles, whereas X band is superior for shorter range surface search with higher target discrimination as well as being used for fire control purposes. S band sits between those two.

Having all three bands would offer quite a bit of redundancy but also more importantly it allows each radar set to specialize at a task instead of having to change between them.

Don't looks like DDG modules don't look like carrier modules

So I think that is first confirmation of Type 055, after all like the 001A what else are they building in that hallway, that "IS" the hallway

Congratulation guys Type 055 has emerged !!

It could be 055, but it really could be anything at this point. We'll get indications of whether it's a surface combatant or not within the next few months.

I totally agreed with you. Actually there is a post from CJDBY by a big shrimp who is believed to be the insider from PLAN. Maybe the post has been discussed, but I will try to translate it and share his vision on PLAN fleet. (Sorry for my broken English :p)

The main combat vessels for PLAN 2025 (updated in 2015)

CV: STOBAR x 2 (Type 001+001A)
CATOBAR x 2 or 3

LHA: 40kt (similar to America-class) x 4 with STOVL

LPD: Type-071 x 6~8

CG: Type-055 x 12~16 with missile defense capability
DDGs: Type-052C/D/E x 32~36
Old DDGs: (052B x 2 + 051C x 2 + 051B x 1 + Sovremennyy-class x 4)
FFGs: Type-054B x 16~20 with enhanced ASW capability + short ranged AA
Type-054/054A x 36
OPVs: Type-056 x 72

Submarine: New SSN x 8
Old SSN x 10
SSBN x 12 (Type-094+ 096?)

New SS with AIP x 12
SS with AIP x 12
Type-039 x 18
other SS x 20
I feel he is extremely optimistic on the size of the fleet considering the fact 2 catobar + 4 LHA in 10 years plus so many other combat vessels which means roughly:

1 Type-055 + 2 Type-052D/E + 2 Type-054B + 1 Type-054A per year at least for the next 10 years...It is great challenge for the shipyard.

The thing that makes me think this PLAN orbat is pie on the sky is the missile defense capability of the Type-55.

Why bother with such an expensive capability on a naval ship, when the only other country with credible ballistic missile programmes are Russia and India, both of which share a LAND border with China?

However, the overall build programme looks very achievable to me, from an industrial and financial sustainability viewpoint.

America doesn't have a credible nuclear ballistic missile programme?

Whoops. That should have read credible conventional ballistic missile programme.

The point I'm making is that ABM capability on a Type-55 simply doesn't make much sense.
