That is a very good sized airstrip. Looks like they are nowhere near finished with adding ramp space.

Interesting that they have 3 reoccurring arch shaped stud ructions running along the runway. Almost looks like air defence forts to my eye.

I can easily seem LD2000/Type 1130 CIWS and FL3000 missiles built onto the roofs of those structures to provide defences against weapons aimed at the runway and/or parked aircraft.

That there, is an unsinkable carrier.

Doesn't the runway risk inundation during the Typhoon season?

No Idea. The shallow water region seems to extend quite a bit out to sea.

I had another look this this picture.



I think the reclamation on the island at the top will encompass the current reclamation on the bottom left corner. If that is so, the eventual size of this island will be more than 1 sq km.

Some reckon that it could look like this.



But, let's wait and see.
