Iraq's Ex-National Security Adviser: ISIL Selling Crude for $20 per Barrel to Turkey

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iraq's Former National Security Adviser Mowaffak al-Rubaie disclosed Ankara's all-out supports for the ISIL, and said that the Takfiri terrorist group is selling his country's crude to Turkey at a very cheap price.

"An example of Turkey's support for the ISIL is that it is purchasing oil of the Muslim countries of Iraq and Syria at $20 per barrel," Rubaie, who is now a senior legislator at the Iraqi parliament, said on Saturday.

He said the new recruits of the ISIL meet the terrorist group's leader in Istanbul and are then sent to Mosul in Iraq and Raqqa in Syria via Turkish borders.

"The wounded ISIL terrorists are treated in Turkish hospitals while the Turkish security officials completely ignore the flow of terrorists from Turkey into Syria and the Northern parts of Iraq," Rubaie added, mentioning a number of cases of Turkey's support for the ISIL.

On Friday, Egypt's veteran journalist and politician Muhammad Hassanein Heikal underlined that the Turkish government is a staunch supporter of the ISIL Takfiri terrorist group.

"There are no differences between Turkey and the ISIL, but on the contrary they have agreed to strike the positions of the Kurdistan's Workers Party (PKK)," Heikal wrote on his Twitter account.

Political observers have on numerous occasions announced that the ISIL gains between $40 million to $50 million per month from the sales of oil the terrorist group illegally extracts from the oilfields of Iraq and Syria.

In August, the European media published information showing that a joint British-Turkish company refines and sells the oil extracted by the ISIL.

Russian forces stormed rebel positions in Sakhl al-Gab, between Latakia and Idlib in northern Syria.

The assault involved Russian forces in up to battalion strength. The rebel-held heights were subjected to heavy artillery bombardment using howitzers and rocket artillery. Russian forces also had air cover in the form of Su-25M attack aircraft.

The ground operation involved Russian Naval Infantry supported by T-90 MBTs and BTR-80 [BTR-82?] APCs.

Right now the captured positions are held by Russian and Syrian forces.

On Saturday morning in the Latakia Governorate’s northern countryside, the Syrian Arab Army’s 103rd Brigade of the Republican Guard – backed by the National Defense Forces (NDF) of Qurdaha, the Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP), and Muqawama Souri (Syrian Resistance) – continued their rapid advance in Jabal Al-Turkmen (Turkmen Mountains), Jabal Nabi Younis (Prophet Jonah Mountains), and Jabal Al-Akrad (Kurdish Mountains), despite the multiple mortar shells and rockets fired by the Turkish Army near the Latakia-Turkey border.

The Syrian Arab Army’s 103rd Brigade of the Republican Guard and their allies began their assault on Saturday by capturing the strategic hilltop of Point 1112 near the rebel stronghold of Al-Sirmaniyah, resulting in their subsequent advance north towards the large city of Jisr Al-Shughour in the Idib Governorate’s western countryside.

Following the capture of Point 1112, the Syrian Arab Army’s 103rd Brigade captured two other hilltops in northern Syria, seizing Point 803 and Tal Maran in Jabal Al-Turkmen from the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra” and the Free Syrian Army’s “1st Coastal Brigade”.

According to a military source, Point 803 is in the Al-Zahiyah Mountains that overlook the Syrian-Turkish border; this site was used by the Islamist rebels of Jabhat Al-Nusra and the Free Syrian Army to smuggle oil and stolen antiquities into Turkey via this border-crossing.

As a result of their advance at the Al-Zahiyah Mountains, the Turkish Army responded by firing a number of mortar shells and rockets towards the Syrian Arab Army’s positions in Jabal Al-Turkmen, marking the second time in two years that the Turkish Army has participated in the battle for Latakia (first time in Kassab).

Israeli-Russian understandings allow Russian jets to fly over Israeli air space and implicitly let the Israeli Air Force bomb weapons headed from Syria to Hezbollah in Lebanon, according to Amos Gilad, senior IDF Reserve officer and director of the Defense Minister’s political-security department.

The JewishPress.com previously reported

last month that Russia and Israel have maintained highly secret weekly talks for cooperation that allow both countries air forces to take actions without interference from the other side.

Russia often crosses into Israeli air space while bombing Islamic State (ISIS) and Syrian rebel sites, and Israel last week reportedly bombed Syria to prevent the flow of Iranian weapons to Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Russian president Vladimir Putin said last week that relations with Israel are “excellent.”

The coordination is aimed at preventing an incident such as Turkey’s downing a Russian jet earlier jet last week, an incident that has severely damaged relations between the two countries.
Gilad said on Saturday:
Russian pilots sometimes cross into Israeli air space. Thanks to excellent security coordination, which began with the meeting between Netanyahu and Putin, limits were drawn up.

The IDF and the Russia army agreed on security priorities. If there is an incident of infiltration, we know what to do and how to prevent incidents what would cause indecision.

Freedom of action is preserved for the Air Force to prevent Iranian weapons from getting into the hands of Hezbollah.

As for the Turkish downing of the Russian jet, Gilad said that President Recep Erdoğan “has every reason to be sorry” for the action.

Gilad also said that Syria is a “dead country” and that President Bashar al-Assad “collects his salary but does not control the country except for perhaps one-quarter of Syria.

If you are a policymaker in Washington; it has to be a difficult week for you, as the U.S. backed “Free Syrian Army” (FSA) and their Islamist allies fight the U.S. backed “Syrian Democratic Forces” (SDF) in the northern Aleppo countryside.

Perhaps, what is even more odd about the U.S. backed rebels fighting the U.S. backed rebels in northern Aleppo is the fact that at least two parties from the opposing sides are factions of the Free Syrian Army; this means the rebels combatting both the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) are actually fighting one another with the same weapons transported to them from the Gulf States and the west.

Instead of fighting ISIS in northern Aleppo like they were originally propagated to do, the SDF and the FSA are fighting one another, while ISIS attempts to regroup and relaunch their offensive on the rural city of Mar’e.

On Saturday morning, the SDF declared they control 9 new villages in northern Aleppo after a series of firefights with the Islamist rebels of the FSA, the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra”, and Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham.

The villages captured by the SDF in the last 48 hours are the following:

– Al-Faysal
– Al-Malkiyah
Al-Kashta’ar
Tanab
Maryamayn
Mirash
– Maryamayn Inab
– Shawarss
Al-Shawarighat
Note: The five village names I underlined are from the list of villages from which FSA, two days ago, gave YPG/SDF 48 hours to withdraw. Guess they didn't get the message!

Two editors from the opposition Cumhuriyet newspaper face lengthy jail sentences for alleging that Ankara’s intelligence agency was supplying weapons

"According to Cumhuriyet, Turkish security forces in January 2014 intercepted a convoy of trucks near the Syrian border and discovered boxes of what the daily described as weapons and ammunition to be sent to rebels fighting against Syrian president Bashar al-Assad.

It linked the seized trucks to the Turkish national intelligence organisation (MIT).

The revelations, published in May, caused a political storm in Turkey, and enraged president Recep Tayyip Erdogan who vowed Dundar would pay a

I take it that the fact that the journalists are accused of publishing the state secret that MIT is providing Daesh with weapons and munition is not, in the eyes of Erdogan, proof that MIT is providing weapons and munitions to Daesh.
