I would like to open a thread to compare combat aircraft of different nations and have a logical and objective discussion of the pros and cons of each. There are two aircraft that are of particular interest to me that are actively competing on the open market. Open is a proven platform that has seen combat (did not fare well) and the other is a new platform.
I would like to open up a topic that will most likely get a lot of you JF-17 fanatics to go crazy (everyone knows who you are), so please don’t! Additionally, I do not want to suggest or insinuate a war between India and Pakistan in any shape, way or form.
With that said I am curious to get (rational) thoughts and conjectures regarding the performance of a standard JF-17 (let’s say block II) against the modified India MiG-29. I know that the Su-30mki is IAF's prime air superiority fighter and F-16 is PAF's. I feel rather than comparing JF-17 with Tejas (which I personally feel we will never see in large numbers), comparing JF-17 with Mig-29 would make more sense.
We can have three different categories: first utilizing AWAC and ECM available to both nations; second, one on one dogfight and third a strike mission
Pakistani JF-17
Indian MiG-29
Let the calm and rational debate begin.
