Aircraft comparison

I would like to open a thread to compare combat aircraft of different nations and have a logical and objective discussion of the pros and cons of each. There are two aircraft that are of particular interest to me that are actively competing on the open market. Open is a proven platform that has seen combat (did not fare well) and the other is a new platform.

I would like to open up a topic that will most likely get a lot of you JF-17 fanatics to go crazy (everyone knows who you are), so please don’t! Additionally, I do not want to suggest or insinuate a war between India and Pakistan in any shape, way or form.

With that said I am curious to get (rational) thoughts and conjectures regarding the performance of a standard JF-17 (let’s say block II) against the modified India MiG-29. I know that the Su-30mki is IAF's prime air superiority fighter and F-16 is PAF's. I feel rather than comparing JF-17 with Tejas (which I personally feel we will never see in large numbers), comparing JF-17 with Mig-29 would make more sense.

We can have three different categories: first utilizing AWAC and ECM available to both nations; second, one on one dogfight and third a strike mission

Let the calm and rational debate begin.

I must confess to a paucity of knowledge of the JF-17, and to be honest on a one to one basis, I would have to say the Mig-29 is a much more mature airframe, my intitial perfunctory oversight of each aircraft would lead me to believe the Mig would come out ahead as the dogfighter???

I would suggest that you or one of our other knowledgeable posters, bring up the spec sheets for gross weight, wing area, thrust to weight ratio, etc, etc, and then drawings of each in planform, top view? frontal and tail, and then we might compare apples to apples, before wandering off into the long grass?

I would make one additional request, a pilot report on SU-27s, as compared to SU-35s/T-50s pointed out that the SU-27 was a real handful, while the newer Fighters with a more sophisticated FCS are much easier to manage, and in fact have some "safety measures" built in to help protect the pilot is he becomes distracted/incapacitated for a period? B787 posted such a "pilot report" by Sergea Bogdon, it was very insightful.

I know the JF-17s were flown to Farnbourough or Paris?? I imagine their are some notes and pressors by the pilots, that might also be helpful?
