Report: Israeli Airstrikes Kill 13 Along Syria-Lebanon Border

Eight Hezbollah Fighters, Five Troops Slain in Attack

syria18.gif

According to reports out of the Syrian media, Israeli warplanes launched four airstrikes against a Hezbollah base in western Syria, along the Lebanon border, killing at least 13 people and wounding dozens of others.

The report identified the slain as eight Hezbollah fighters and five Syrian soldiers. No reason was given for the attack and, as with several previous Israeli attacks on Syria, there has been no formal statement from the Israeli military confirming the incident, let alone explaining it.

The previous attacks didn’t target stationary bases, however, and were explained away as targeting convoys Israel believed to be smuggling weapons to Hezbollah. Israeli officials have repeatedly said they will never allow Hezbollah to obtain certain advanced weapons.

If confirmed, these Monday evening attacks could raise tensions between Russia and Israel, as Russia has previously warned Israeli warplanes away from the Lebanese border for being too close to their own military operations inside Syria.

Here’s the alleged Audio of the Turkish Air Force warning the Russian Su-24 before downing it

Hear a Turkish Air Force radar station warning an unknown aircraft about to enter the Turkish airspace.

On Nov. 24, a Russian Air Force Su-24M belonging to the contingent deployed to Latakia, in western Syria, was shot down by a Turkish Air Force F-16 after violating Ankara’s airspace in the Hatay region.

about the downing and subsequent CSAR (Combat SAR) mission launched by Russian choppers, one of those was destroyed by rebels on the ground, where the helicopter had performed an emergency landing.

The two Russian pilots, who ejected from the Su-24 in flames, died in the incident (it’s still unclear whether at least one of them died before it touched the ground or was killed by the rebels who reportedly gunned the two parachutes).

According to the Turkish authorities, the Russian plane was warned 10 times in 5 minutes while it approached the boundary with another Su-24, before it was engaged.

The violation was extremely short: flying at 19,000 feet, the Fencer crossed the Turkish airspace for 17 seconds. While one of the Fencers egressed towards the Syrian airspace, the doomed Su-24 was hit by an air-to-air missile (AIM-9X, based on the Russian report that mentions an IR-guided weapon; other sources suggested it may have been an AIM-120).

Interestingly, the Russian MoD denied any warning was radioed (by the F-16) to the Russian Su-24 at all.

now that's interesting:
US sanctions Syria for buying oil from Islamic State group
The United States imposed sanctions Wednesday on supporters of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's government, including a middleman it alleged buys oil for the regime from the Islamic State group.

"The Syrian government is responsible for widespread brutality and violence against its own people," said Adam Szubin, acting under secretary for terrorism and financial intelligence, in a statement announcing the sanctions action.

"The United States will continue targeting the finances of all those enabling Assad to continue inflicting violence on the Syrian people."

The Treasury Department named four individuals and six entities for sanctions for their support of the Assad regime, "including a middleman for oil purchases by the Syrian regime from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL)," another name for the Islamic State group.

The department highlighted "ongoing government of Syria ties to ISIL."

Sanctions were imposed on George Haswani, a Syrian national, and his company, HESCO Engineering and Construction Company.

"Haswani is a Syrian businessman who serves as a middleman for oil purchases by the Syrian regime from ISIL. HESCO is a Syrian engineering and construction company that operates energy production facilities in Syria, reportedly in areas controlled by ISIL," the Treasury Department said.

Other sanctions targets included Russian Financial Alliance Bank, Primax Business Consultants Limited, and Belize-based Kremsont Commercial Inc.

The sanctions forbid US individuals or entities from doing any business with those on the blacklist, restricting their access to international financial networks crucial to doing business.

Perhaps them and Putin will get together because I just don't see this administration doing enough too me I know they want their own homeland maybe they should have one if an agreement could be worked out with Assad and the Kurds they just might be the only viable solution to Isis agreeable by Russia and the west
I think the Kurds in Turkey will ask the same thing. That is why whenever there is a terrorist attack targetting Kurds in Turkey, Turkey bombs Kurdish targets in Syria instead of perpetrators. So you know your wish will never materalize.
