2) What kind of submarine is in the picture ?
That particular picture is fiction. It was posted around the net in several locations back in 2014 claiming (by those sites) to be everything from...

"Six Type 096 Chinese SSNs already deployed"

"Type 098 Chinese SSNs"

"Type 095 Submarine"

etc., etc.

The closest current submarine that is similar in hull form to that is the German Type 212...which are relatively small AIP Diesel/electric subs, and not nuclear powered subs at all.

Here's how they look:

Equation and Jeff,
Many thanks for your reply.

I have been googling the net, and so far,
I can NOT find any info identifying the sub below.

Does anyone know the type of sub or is it a CGI / photoshopped picture ?

Green...you can find all sorts of PSed, exotic phots on the net.

As Wolf said, that is an old Russian Alpha Class sail PSed onto a US sub hull.

I would advise you to look at the existing submarine classes, get to know them well, and then you will see most of these fakes for what they are.

Posting pics like this into the Ask Anything Thread is fine...that's why we created these threads.

So, if you are unsure, post them here and ask.

If you know they are PS and want members to see them...we have a PS thread in the Pictures Forum for those.=

no_name, ... Equation, ... Hyperwarp, ... plawolf, and ... Jeff Head,

To all of you, ... ... Thank you so much for the feedback.

I anticipate my skill in identifying a genuine photo versus
a photoshopped photo will be close to zero for a long time to come.

Especially for a brand new cutting edge sub design photo that
has not been officially released yet.

Well, to continue the online blog terminology confusion. Why "big shrimp"? I mean one can hardly associate experts or big shots with "shrimps"... I sense some kind of weird word game here...

Big Shrimp in Chinese Pinyin is Da Xia大虾, which is the same as Da Xia大侠swordsman or noble warrior of the ancient times who are powerful kung fu masters that helps people in need.

But since people type in chinese pinyin Da Xia the words Big Shrimp is the first choice and swordsman/noble warrior 大侠 is second choice. And it's kind of humorous and respectful at the same time without being too unctuous.

So.. people on internet forums just start using Big Shrimp 大虾 instead of 大侠swordsman noble warrior. Now it become well known words that it's part of the online forum tradition to call those people who are well respected and knowledgeable people Big Shrimp.
