A4 used to be NZ's only armed aircraft for defense, until they scratched them. Now the NZ royal air force have no fighters or ground attack planes. Well the nearest major country Aus is *only* about 2000km away so frankly only nations that can threaten NZ are those with ACs now or in the future and if that happens things would have gone down the drain anyway.

Very nice pictures... I expect we'll be getting the actual video soon as well.

I think that is so far the most J-15s that have been seen on deck on Liaoning yet.

Thanks Jeff.

Fourteen..sweet..The most I've seen aboard the CV was five.

OK. fourteen J-15s.. get 'em out to the ship and start operating..let's see some action. Ooppss.. This is the PLAN. That is not happening anytime soon...They move at the speed of slow...

Well, we can be quite sure that they are moving ahead steadily. And I can be quite certain that they are working their butts off, qualifying new pilots and training for different skills, etc. it's like that first video we saw of their CV ops. We had no idea that they had actually started the training. I think at the time we were discussing how important actual landing on an actual CV was because many of us thought they were only practicing take off and landing at that land base. Then all of a sudden, they showed that awesome video showing almost perfect take-off and landing on the CV-16, along with other aspects of the CV ops. so they had been training hard and moving forward. It's iust that they don't want us to see how far they have improved.

I think it's a a tradition thing. I think you've commented before that the PLA seems to only show clean, pristine pics. Even with the training of their army grunts, we don't even see many photos of sweat and dirt. Only nice and neat formation marching.

It is very possible thet they have had more that we just have not seen yet.

I believe this photo...

Great post..I'm sure they are doing something but once again as I've stated so many times..what's the big secret? I want to see the action. My skills as an "aircraft carrier operations analyst" are waning.

so they had been training hard and moving forward. It's just that they don't want us to see how far they have improved.

Exactly....some day they will really surprise us all one day when CV-16 is seen with a deck loaded with aircraft.

Yes.. I do not like those photos where everything thing looks so pristine. It is so unreal to a real flight deck sailor. People sweat and get dirty and work hard!...PLA..there's nothing wrong with showing those type of photos...nothing at all..

I actually thought some of the early flight deck pix were comical. Shipmates marching in formation to their positions on the roof..c'mon now. For what purpose was that? Probably to show discipline and order..I'd rather see greasy guys and girls working..

PLAN..show me some photos like this..;

My friend, Popeye I do not think Popeye is being condescending at all. He is being honest about how secretive the PLAN is.

We all know that they are...and that is fine. It's one of the reasons it is necessary (and fund) to be "watchers."

But Popeye, over they years, has been extremely complimentary of the PLAN and their activities on many occasions...he also calls things as he sees them from a sailor with 20+ years experience on aircraft carriers. We are all very much the better as a forum and as individuals to have the benefit of his experiences and wisdom regarding it.

I realize that and I am not condescending.. just honest.

I also posted..

I do not intended to insult anyone.

And I don't want to insult anyone particularly any member of this forum...I just post as I see them. It is my joy to see all these nations operate carriers. I don't care what country. I just want to see how they do their flight deck waltz.. that's all. I've been critical of other nations flight deck operations. Of course my expectations are high have served aboard five USN carriers. I KNOW what the show is supposed to be like.

I just would and we all would like to see more transparency from the PLAN. I'm tired of the pristine pretty boy photos.

That's all folks!
