After Mistral Class LHD, V-22 to be Tested for Interoperability with French Navy Aircraft Carrier
On September 28, 2015, the French Navy Naval Aviation Practical Experimentation Center (centre d’expérimentations pratiques de l’aéronautique navale - CEPA) validated during a closing conference the interoperability between Mistral class LHDs and the Boeing V-22 Osprey tilt rotor aircraft. This conference embodies the result of two years of investigation and joint tests. The French Navy announced a similar campaign will be conducted with V-22 on board nuclear-powered aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle.
...
With the CEPA green light, Mistral class LHDs have a new capability: Accomodation and operational mission support of V-22 aircraft.

Mirage 2000D with 2 GBU-12
FRA Mir 2000D, 2 GBU-12.png

Can be armed also with 2 GBU-22/49 or 1 GBU-16/24 or 1 SCALP also 2 Mk-82. Only GBU-49 is Laser/GPS guided.
Problem don' t have gun as Mirage 2000N planned modernized later with a gun in a pod and also armed with Mica AAM for replaced Magic retired later.

For 2 bombs a an adapter "Rafaut " AUF-2 2000, F1 first variant.
AUF2 2000/F1 was developed to carry and release dumb and laser guided bombs under Mirage 2000 ans Mirage F1. Thanks to its modular interface system, it can be easily adapted under various fighter aircraft. This adaptor can also integrate digital link (Mil stad 1760/1553 bus) and geoloc (GPS) circuits.
It is fully capable for latest generation smart bombs, such as GBU49 or HAMMER (SBU38, 54…)

Annouced also now Mirage 2000N have a new weapon load with 4 x GBU-12* waiting pictures :) under the fuselage 2 x 2 in tandem but as Mirage 2000C don' t have targeting pod then need work in tandem with Mirage 2000D or eventualy Rafale, Super Etendard and Atlantique which have also or a FAC.
*More interesting a Mirage 2000D/N patrol can attack 6 targets vs 4 otherwise. Presumably with targeting pod which take the place Mirage 2000D can't have this other hard point with 2 bombs.

French Mirage 2000Ds get Mid-Life Upgrade

The French Air Force (Armée de l’Air) fleet of Dassault Mirage 2000D aircraft will undergo a Mid-Life Upgrade (MLU), starting at the end of this year. This was stated in the 2016 French Finance Bill, which was officially presented to the French financial press on 30 September. The MLU will keep the Mirage 2000D extend the operational service life until 2030.

Of the current fleet of 63 operational aircraft, 55 will be renovated and modernized. This modernization will focus on improving the air-to-ground gunnery capability, but also the ability to take self-protection missiles MICA IR. According to he 2016 Bill, the upgrade programm starts at the end of this year, while hand over to the French Air Force of the first modernized aircraft will start from 2019.

The first Mirage 2000D entered service 1993. Overseas operations by the French Air Force put the Mirage 2000D fleet under quite some stress. Therefore, in April the Mirage 2000D in Jordan, as part of Operation Chammal, was relieved by the Mirage 2000N.

Upgrading the Mirage 2000D also has an economic background, as according to the more capable Dassault Rafale aircraft, it will have significantly lower operating costs. The renovated Mirage 2000D can be deployed in missions for which the Rafale capabilities are not required. This helps to maximize the service life of the Rafale aircraft.

Mistral sold to Egypt deal confirmed, good news
Good customer 1 FREMM, 24 Rafale, 2 Mistral and 4 Godwind !

Signing the contract of sale of the two Mistral in Egypt CAIRO (Reuters) -

Egyptian Navy and the group Directorate of Naval service constructions (DCNS) signed in Cairo on Saturday, attended by French Prime Minister Manuel Valls and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sissi, the contract of sale of two ships helicopter carrier Mistral.

French military sources mentioned the sum of 950 million euros for the sale, Manuel Valls has not confirmed at a press conference with his Egyptian counterpart Sherif Ismail.

An agreement in principle had been reached last month in Cairo for the sale of two buildings Projection and Command (BPC) built in the shipyards in Saint-Nazaire Atlantic and originally intended for Russia. Their sale was canceled because of the conflict in Ukraine, that Westerners think fed by Moscow.

The visit of Manuel Valls to Cairo aims to strengthen the ties with Egypt, which also has acquired 24 Rafale combat aircraft from Dassault Aviation, including control of loans financed by the Gulf countries, including Saudi Arabia. It falls within the framework of a Franco-Egyptian agreement of 5.2 billion euros which includes missiles and a frigate.

In Cairo, Manuel Valls said his desire to continue the Franco-Egyptian cooperation in the field of armaments.Contracts in recent months are "proof of the density of the confidence of the cooperation in the field of defense, that we will extend," he has said."France wants to accompany Egypt for its defense and security", also stressed the head of the French government. "We need a strong Egypt."

Chammal: Integrating the Cassard to the American carrier battle group

Since September 25, 2015, the Cassard frigate deployed in the Persian Gulf as part of Operation Chammal, joined the US carrier group CSG 12 formed around the aircraft carrier Theodore Roosevelt and several missile destroyers and a cruiser.
Every day, in coordination with other countries in the coalition, the F18 fighters and air E2D watch planes are catapulted from the aircraft carrier to go support the Iraqi security forces fighting against terrorism. CSG's contribution to the 12 Inherent Resolve multinational operation does not end with carrier aviation: specialized escorts are required to take command of air defense zone above the Persian Gulf, which is to monitor any civil aviation activity and control the military air activity around the Gulf, especially the departing or returning from Iraq.

Integration into the joint and multinational organization requires a large technical expertise. The Cassard has demonstrated its ability to control the air and operating environment particularly dense and complex in the area, to ensure its own self-defense against a fleeting and unexpected threat, to control hunting patrols catapulted USSRoosevelt since then to ensure Overall command of the air defense of the area, including that of the aircraft carrier.

The trust established between the French and American sailors, based on regular training, a rigorous preparation and the experience gained by several years of Franco-American naval cooperation, particularly in this strategic region today allows air defense buildings French excellent interoperability with US carrier battle groups.

Launched from September 19, 2014, the Chammal operation mobilized 700 soldiers. It aims at the request of the Iraqi government and in coordination with France's allies in the region, to provide support (air and training) to Iraqi forces in the fight against the terrorist group Daech. The complete system is currently structured around twelve aircraft the Air Force fighter (six Rafale, three and three Mirage2000N Mirage2000D) Atlantique2 and a maritime patrol aircraft.
