Very sweet, although I would like to see the wings folding and unfolding, just a beautiful airplane that has adapted very nicely to the boat. I hope the Navy gets their Ducks in a row and goes all in for this bird, it is the nicest of the three airplanes, it really is.
Check out my following pics...You will see the two Charlie on deck after landing with the wings folded in the fifth pic..

Love to see those JSF Charlie birds aboard the CVNs...their natural habitat.

Yes I just love to see them folding and unfolding, in WWII it was Grumman Iron works that had the super wazoo folding mechanism, amazing engineering feat, to be able to fold and yet pull 7 Gs, just amazing! The Grummans

The Israeli Air Force are probably going to be the first to massively customize the F35. There has been talk of unique electronics and even a F35 two seater coming out of Israel. Can't really blame them they know there tactical systems and have there own ideas. The Israelis and the South Africans are really innovative engineers.

A little OT here: not to mention during the South African Apartheid years they had a respectable nuclear bomb building program before they decided to dismantle it in regards to adherence to the nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty (NPT).

Well TerraN, I lost ten bucks to the Honey Badger in a bet, so in order to recoup my loss, and gain a little profit, I will bet ya 20 bucks that the F-35 never has a 2 seat, tandem cockpit arrangement? that would negate the real beauty of the F-35, three variants, that people will not need to massively customize, to add to that, everybody should be able to "plug and play" most of their own ordinance/weapons into the system and go guns up in a very short time.

To be honest most of the really innovative engineers live and operate in our sphere, not saying others don't have a great deal to add, but the F-35 is HEAVY, she doesn't really need a "whizzo" in the sense that she can even launch other peoples weapons, that my friend is the beauty of this bird. It is not only a very powerful weapons platform, it is also a mini-AWAC, multi-spectrum information and situational awareness, which can be shared discreetly, and appropriate weapons launched from the most logical platform. Kool huh?

Whewee! Brat, have we made a believer out of you, or what!

Spot-on! Could not have stated it better myself.

She also has good flight characteristics and capabilities too...as anyone who has watched some of her off-angle and departure testing simply must admit. And her BVR capabilities are going to be second to none.

But she is going to really shine with these very capabilities you mention.

Brat, I said talk not anything more. So no bet. That said anything can be improved. The Israelis are mostly looking to give it there own systems and ideas. Remember the ISDAF bought the F15 took out the big radar and put in there own goodies for there own kind of fighting.

I am rather certain the F-35 is a high zoot ride already, the Avionics are beyond state of the art, and no doubt the radar is awesome. The Joint in JSF means that everyone will be free to adapt their own equipment into and onto the F-35, it is a user friendly system. The F-22 not so much, but it is much more difficult to hack or upgrade.

I was very impressed when the F-35 was flown to 73 degrees AoA, and watching them tossing it around with no need to deploy that spin chute is very confidence inspiring. It has now been to 110 degrees and recovered without incident. So Yes, I have been converted, and yes it will be a fabulous little sister to the Raptor, heck, its will be a fabulous airplane on its own terms, I could prolly land the B in my double lot next to my house. It is a very nice airplane to fly, predictable, and linear thanks to that kool FCS. and that friend is what it takes to win, the airplane has to be "intuitive", so that you may concentrate on deploying your weapons against the bad guy.
