Spencer Stone, hailed as hero after French train terror attack, has been stabbed in Sacramento, California.

He is currently in a stable condition and is being treated at a local hospital, an Air Force official confirmed to the BBC.

CBS News first reported that he was "stabbed repeatedly" on a Sacramento street corner Thursday morning.

Mr Stone, 25, is one of three Americans that helped to thwart a terror attack against a French train in August.

Spencer Stone and the two other Americans, Alek Skarlatos and Anthony Sadler, were greeted as heroes upon their return to the US.

They received awards from the Secretary of Defense and met President Obama at the White House.

The Chinese Joint Strike Fighter copy is known as the J-31 "Gyrfalcon". First sighted in 2012, the J-31 (pictured top) bears a strong resemblance to U.S. fighters, particularly the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (pictured bottom). The planes's quick development time has led to suspicions it relies heavily on stolen U.S. technical data, and security activist Edward Snowden

F-35 data was stolen by Chinese cyber spies.

For years, outside observers have made a peculiar observation: many Chinese weapon systems look an awful lot like their American counterparts. These dopplegangers from the Asian mainland tend to come out five to ten years after their American versions, with Chinese engineers vehemently stating any resemblance was strictly—strictly—coincidental.

on the Chinese web site tiexue.net titled "Sino-US equipment: Only Genuine Army Fans Know" shows more than a dozen side-by-side comparisons of Chinese and American gear. The results are interesting.

The United States and China both have nearly identical requirements for many kinds of weapon systems. And nearly identical requirements can lead to nearly identical outcomes. The eye, for example, is estimated to have evolved separately between 40 and 65 times in the entire history of life on Earth. Often there's just so many ways to do something.

Then again, China has repeatedly been accused of using its army of hackers and IRL spies to comb the world looking for military technology. China has been under a Western arms embargo since the 1989 Tiananmen Square uprising, and the only way to get Western expertise is to steal it. The latest accusation was that Chinese hackers had stolen data on the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter.

Next up is the American C-17 Globemaster III (pictured top). Classified as a strategic heavy lifter, the C-17 can haul tanks from the continental United States all the way to Afghanistan, an invaluable asset for U.S. forces.

Now, China's Y-20 heavy transport (pictured bottom). Built by Xian Aircraft Corporation, the Y-20 has virtually the same mission as the C-17. From below, the Chinese plane looks virtually identical, even down to the shape of the vertical stabilizer. In this case, China has admitted help from the Antonov design bureau, a Ukrainian aircraft manufacturer that specialized in transport and cargo planes.

Beyond that? Only China knows.

They're looking for two Asian males in the stabbing of Spencer Stone. That'll be interesting to find out the details. They showed on TV a liquor store's camera footage of the fight. I've seen my fair share of fights. Fighting in the movies is so far off real life.

The CCP doesn't like US Congressional report on insufficient human rights and rule of law in China.

BEIJING (Reuters) - A U.S. congressional commission's criticism of China's human rights record did not "accord with the facts", the Chinese government said on Friday, the latest friction over a long-running thorn in relations.

The U.S. Congressional-Executive Commission on China said on Thursday that it saw in China "a disturbing deterioration in human rights and rule of law conditions that pose a direct challenge to U.S. national interests and U.S.-China relations".

The report comes weeks after Chinese President Xi Jinping's state visit to Washington, during which U.S. President Barack Obama laid out concern over human rights.

Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying told a regular briefing that U.S. officials and the American public must be more objective.

"This report has nothing new, embraces a persistent bias in order to make irresponsible remarks about China's domestic affairs, and makes criticisms that don't accord with the facts," Hua said.

"China's 1.3 billion people have the greatest authority to pass judgment," she said.

The U.S. commission said China was moving further away from a rule of law system and had increased pressure on civil society. It also criticized the state of religious freedom and Beijing's treatment of ethnic minorities.

"President Xi has presided over an extraordinary assault on the rule of law and civil society", U.S. Representative Chris Smith, the committee chairman, said in an emailed statement. Florida senator and Republican presidential candidate Marco Rubio co-chairs the committee.

Activists say that under Xi, China is conducting its most intense crackdown on human rights in two decades.

Nearly 1,000 rights activists were detained last year – almost as many as in the previous two years combined, according to Chinese Human Rights Defenders, a coalition of Chinese and international activist groups.

China has long argued that it is unfairly singled out for criticism of its rights record and says other governments should examine their own records before making accusations.
