PLAN Type 035/039/091/092 Submarine Thread

To be frank, I don't think the S-20 comes with VLS modules. Perhaps the Pakistani Navy bought a Pakistan-specific variant that does.

Yes PN was extensively involved in this project for that very purpose otherwise they had options of Merlin or U214s.

PN will incorporate BABUR cruise missiles on these babies.

China will build in Karachi four of eight submarines that it is selling to Pakistan.

The quality of water is very bad. It would decrease the normal lifespan of Submarines
in what way? if you mean the ballast tank taking in water, then even clean water has marine creates that can live and grow in the tank that may need cleaning regularly. I suppose cleaning silt as Bltizo mentioned is way easier than removing some sea animal adhered inside the tank.

I know S20 is a modular design based on Yuan, but PLAN has not installed any VLS on its own Yuans. So I am not so sure about the VLS depiction unless PN is willing and confident enough to be the lead customer of VLS in S20, however that could be the case as Pakistan may have been involved in the design and experiment long ago, similar to JF-17 project.

Lol that's a freakin Amur 950... Not sure what they're playing at.

Haaa... and I thought it was Pakistan version of Grassroots creating CG image of what he imagine future PN SSK will be like. I guess he didn't bother with that and just grab a Russian Amur 950 to save some time.:D

I've read somewhere that degrading Water quality at Indian seas were affecting there Navy ships. It degrades material quality at much faster pace and thereby reducing lifespan of the assets.

Looking at the pollution in water here. I guesstimated it will affect the outer surface and will accelerate the degrading of materials at much faster pace and therefore requiring intensive maintenance at much shorter intervals.

The plan for acquiring chinese submarines began when Gernman U-boat negotiations fell in in 2008 and french reluctance of allowing Pakistan to modify Augusta to launch Sub marine launched cruise missiles from it. We've been hearing about Pak-China submarine deal since 2009. 6 year is enough to design a heavily modified submarine which can contain VLS/AIP/the electronic masts.

Aren't the 093B boats rumoured to have VLS (hence the humps)? Then there is also that one-off test sub the Chinese built a few years back with both a SLBM and VLS test modules.

As such, the technology would have already been tested, developed and fielded, in which case the risks for Pakistan should be far lower as it would just be integrating off-the-shelf VLS with an off-the-shelf sub design.
