Part 1
Many of us get our news from the western media so it's easy to buy into the idea that China is being aggressive and expansionist at the expense of its "terrorized neighbors". Is that true? Could it be that China is simply enhancing its defensive abilities due to lessons learned from its past?
I hope to persuade you of the later so you can see Chinese military actions with more objectivity and less alarmist fear-mongering.
American is not some benevolent leader of the free world™ with Exceptionalism™
"Can China Rise Peacefully?" with Dr. John Mearsheimer
Starting at 17:22 (lasts a few minutes), he debunks the notion that America was some benevolent non-imperialistic power.
His theory is simple. Nations exist in an anarchy, where there is no higher authority like a judge, 911 emergency center, police, etc. It's a dog eat dog world. The name of the game is survival. Since we cannot ascertain another nation's intentions, only their capabilities, we must plan for the worst and be as strong as possible AND prevent other countries from becoming strong.
He backs his case up by citing how USA has behaved since its founding. In part 3, around 19-23 minutes in, he reasons that China will adopt the same theory to be as strong as it can be to survive, which will lead the USA and China into inevitable conflict whether through misunderstanding and/or competition.
It's one of the more reasonable theories I've come across. However, I see it differently than Dr. Mearsheimer.
National security does not explain...
Certain facts he brings up are in fact wrong such as America beating Japan. China and Russia did the vast majority of the dying and fighting, while America supplied Imperial Japan with war making materials until the Pearl Harbor attack. See the book Imperial Cruise , where the Anglo-Americans armed, trained, and encouraged Imperial Japan's militarism across Asia
and "saving the world from communism" (see the book, Killing Hope ).
In fact, when you analyze enough history, a distinct pattern emerges, one that does not fit the democracy (good) vs communism (evil) narrative of the west.
For example, the western powers were grew on imperialism - opium wars in China, British Raj in India, France in Indochina, multiple powers in Africa...Canada, America, Mexico, South America, etc, etc..Hundreds of millions of victims died of innocents died as a result of war, genocide, famine, civil wars, etc. You can read more about the Christian origins here - - that's just the Native Indians experience)
These inconvenient facts are excluded from your education because you wouldn't feel like so exceptional™ anymore and you probably would be far more reluctant to "save the world™". That's why you're indoctrinated from birth. to believe.
is actually this...
You are taught things such as the west succeeded because of democracy, rule of law, property rights, and other agreeable fiction.
If America (I will not focus on the rest of the west as it takes too long but you can read a quick introduction here - ) cared so much about human rights then it's odd that they would commit so many atrocities throughout the world to "save" people from "evil communism".
Edward Blum's book, Killing Hope , lists dozens of CIA operations across communist nations that resulted in human rights disasters that dwarf the so-called oppression of Chinese dissidents like Liu Xiaobo, who openly call for the overthrow of the CPC (who lifted hundreds of millions out of poverty) and support the invasion of Iraq based on non-existent wmd. He was awarded a Nobel Peace Prize.
It's equally odd that USA, a country supposedly founded on democratic ideals would support France to recolonize Vietnam after ww2, or commit genocide across Indochina (Vietnam , Laos (The Most Secret Place On Earth The CIAs Covert War In Laos 2008
) and Cambodia (Noam Chomsky on CIA Covert Action and the Secret Bombing of Cambodia (1995)
) these two defenseless societies are the top two most bombed nations on earth.)
It was later whitewashed with films like Air America and Rambo 2. Here are some examples...
The Vietnam War, a genocidal and illegal war against innocent people based on the Gulf of Tonkin Lie had "patriotic" films such as Rambo. Now, the Iraq War had similar films like the Hurt Locker and American Sniper. Missing from both these films is context. The war was illegal and the so-called evil Viet Cong and now, the Iraqi "insurgents", were/are merely fighting for their life and protecting their women and children.
What is most important is to compare the reviews to gauge the reception. Remember, these films are both propaganda.
Rambo has mostly positive reviews for turning the aggressors into heroes and the victims into the villains.
American sniper has mostly negative reviews (on the first page - the most widely read) for doing the same.
The media has simply lost its ability to control the narrative.
What you see in the invasion of Iraq is not new. It's just history repeating itself by the same actors with a face-lift. Instead of fighting communism, it's "humanitarian intervention". If in fact, there have been many face lifts
Christianity --> Democracy ---> Foreign aid --> Free Market/globalization ---> NGO like NED --> War on Terror ---> Evil China / Evil Russia
For proof of NED (National Endowment for Democracy) is CIA front see
, which is taken from the book Rogue Nation by Edward Blum
Remarkably, their goals have remained consistent despite their lofty and disarming rhetoric.
Finally, what is driving America and their allies to wage war across the planet?
Western-styled capitalism was founded on war, genocide, slavery, and plunder. It still is, but it's just more covert now. Their actions are whitewashed by hollywood and the media.
For example, the west brags about ending slavery, but what do you think this is?
All diamonds are blood diamonds The truth about the diamond trade
Child Labor and Slavery in the Chocolate Industry
Now you're prepared to understand the real reason communism is demonized.
Western styled capitalism is profits over people.
Communism is people over profits.
Communism fights against capitalism. Both systems are flawed, but I will not debate that here. I just want you to understand why communism is feared. This is why
You couldn't understand this as easily in the past because things have been good for many who live in the west. You know who understands occupy wall street even though they've never been there?
