I feel like some of these UAV concepts are way too fanciful... or at least not actively developed designs.

Which is a bit of a departure from previous years when models and concepts of UAVs actually turned out into real flying aircraft after not too long.

Agree. But I will love to see PLA actually buid at least one prototype of WZ-100 just because it was so unconventional looking and so intimidating. No one can claim China copy their drone with this one for sure.

And that's a great psychological weapon that will give your enemy nightmares without firing a shot. :D

Lol, I thought the background looked familiar, and sure enough, after about 5 seconds on Google, I found what it was.

The background is a straight rip from a promotional image used for the Battlefield 3 game's expansion, "Aftermath".

Anyway, what's the used for counter rotation on this concept? There's no counter rotating prop, so is it the engines?

People at Technical University Delft are developing such a craft without an anti-torque rotor. I have not quite understood how it works, having just read a simple explanation without many details a few years ago. IIRC it concerns the way to pitch of the rotor blades changes through a revolution that provides the lift and counteracts the torque.
