Are these of a recent flight or are these from earlier in the year?

IMO these must be earlier one, since esp. one user in another forum already used the first image since a few weeks (or even months), I have quite similar ones dated 19. June and 1. July.

However I'm not completely sure,

Okay thanks!, BTW have we gotten any new pics since mid-July? It seems as if in the past few weeks the J-20 has "disappeared" and we barely even have rumors much less information and pictures of it.

Is it possible China don't want to take the headline and focus away from the parade and kind of keep the J-20 away from the public's eyes during the preparation of the Sept-3 Victory Parade? And now it's finish and we will see 2016 flying soon?

Doubt it. The attendance was said to be 40,000. Only a minuscule number of people watching the parade have any idea what a J-20 is. Most people who see a headline that says new J-20 prototype appeared wouldn't bat an eye since new Chinese thinga-ma-jigs show up every other month.

We have traditionally gotten more from Chengdu in the way of pictures and up to date videos than we have from Shenyang? now that President Xi is running the show, we see an "old school" lockdown on lots of info, really nothing of note on the Liaoning??? or even the J-15s although we do see a few of those, and it looks like batch production is occurring at a slow but steady pace??

there was the mention of a soft-ware glitch in the J-20, supposedly similar to the YF-22, so lots of speculation and rumors??? some true?? or maybe not??? very sad for those of us who had "warmed up" to the Chinese people and were not only excited for the new "junk", but excited for the people to see their govt including them as they entered the international community as more of a "partner" as opposed to a "player"?? no offense to you my brother of the same name, but this dark cloud of secrecy has dampened peoples hope?

True since Xi Jinping took over we have gotten a bit less info and pics then under that of Hu Jintao, however it wasn't all that bad last year since there were a lot of very clear pics of all four J-20 prototypes and we got tons of new info but then all of sudden in the second half of 2015 we have barely gotten any pics or info so it wouldn't really make sense to heavily censor this year but not censor as much last year. So the other possible explanation was of course the rumor that there was an incident with the software so that could potentially be the culprit, and plus wasn't the WS-15 finished with ground tests or something of that like just a few days ago? So they could be just waiting for WS-15 to come along so they can add on to '2016'?

For those waiting for 2016, here's something from last Dec. Again the top guy presenting awards, this time at CAC. Note the one last month was at the engine site.
This year, J20 has clearly entered a new stage in testing resulting in the current pause or just a new level of secrecy.
The question is will this new stage involve WS15 or low level production with the temporary engine or both ?

Its the question if China is ready to produce and deploy J-20 aircraft with non-WS15 engines. There are all kind of documents and leaks which claim that China is exactly doing that but most also claimed that we would see more J-20 prototype evalutations or even a low-rate production in the near future, claims which don't get supported by the things we are seeing right now.

If China wants to push the J-20 with the WS-15 then further prototypes without WS-15 engines wouldn't make sense right now and the focus should be on several parts like avionics, EW, radar/sensors etc. which can be tested on ground or with the already known prototypes.

It would be strange if the the production pace of the several Flanker types were to be different as they are certain to be build in the same plant, simply because building a plant just for a few score J-15's doesn't make sense. ( Has someone details of the plant(s) producing the Flankers ). The batch sizes, except perhaps for a first batch, are probably the same. The difference might be in the number of batches of each type, equal numbers of J-15 and J-16 or two batches of J-16 for every J-15 batch, or even some less regular pattern. The plant will have been designed to make an easy change from producing one type to the other.
