J-10 Thread IV

There are several rumors that Pakistan is buying the J-10 although I admit I don't know if the sources are trustworthy or not..
Rumors about Pakistan getting J-10s have been going on for years.

To date...it has not happened. I personally do not believe it will happen in the near future.

However, if we wait long enough, one day they may come true as China moves on to newer aircraft.

As it is right now, and for the foreseeable future, Pakistan is however making hay with the JF-17 and doing quite well with them.

Yeah, I thought that Pakistan having both the JF-17 and the J-10 wouldn't make much sense since the JF-17 in itself is already very capable and Pakistan still has its F-16s and Mirage IIIs.

I think its all down to a question of money.

I think the original rumours have substance, in that China and Pakistan probably already agreed on a J10 sale in principle, but its the financing that is preventing the deal from being finalised.

China isn't aggressively marketing the J10, its probably a big deal that Pakistan was clear for export at all.

That means that the usual generous load packages offered by China for big ticket military deals are probably not on the table, meaning Pakistan would have to dig deep to finance the J10s, and at present, and in the near future, Pakistan has high priority elsewhere.

Well I think it is a larger deal than some of you seem to think.
I am led to suspect that many countries would like the J-10 but that it is outside of their budgets - in strict monetary terms at least.
Stating the obvious, the J-10 is a new aircraft and sales would be new build and therefore a bif advantage over 30 year old sell ons.
More importantly, it would represent not just the purchase of an Aircraft but also access into the emerging Chinese Defence Architecture, which is probably more important again in the medium to long term.

I have been doing some research in relation on Chinese deals to Argentina, especially with respect to the Falklands dispute. I am aware that some negotiations are stalled, but the bigger picture is quite startling. I will hope to start a thread shortly.

This video was so incredibly touching. They said that before the first flight, during the final check, someone found 3 drops of oil in the engine nacelle, and Song Wencong cancelled the first flight. The entire rear of the aircraft was taken apart to find the cause before the first flight was reinstated at a later date. The test pilot, Lei Qiang (what a name! It means strong thunder!) said he was very nervous and refused to have his blood pressure or heart rate taken because he feared that that would cause him to not be cleared for flight. He knew how the fighter was like a son to everyone who had worked on it with no concept of nights or weekends. So he swore that if anything should happen during the flight, he would use his own life to bring the aircraft back to the tarmac. He said that no matter what happened, as long as it doesn't explode in mid-air, he would not eject. DEEZE ONIONS, MAN!!!

Another new bird + maybe new unit !

Serial 78383 should be the at least for me unknown 177. Brigade ... and as reported by Huitong should be assigned to the FTTC Dingxin Flight Test & Training Base.

However another possibility might be a serial 78363 meaning 175. Brigade ... that is already known ! What do You think ??

i don't see a 177th brigade in scramble. I guess 50/50 between a new brigade and belonging to 175th brigade.
