I have never seen these APCs before, they look like a hybrid of the Type 89 and the ZBD-08. Can anyone confirm if these are regular APCs rather than any special (psyops etc) variety? What's their designation?

With those loudspeakers, it looks like a propaganda vehicle led by some old-fashioned political officers.

I wonder if by the time the actual parade rolls around everyone would have seen everything already :p

Incidentally there had been complaints during the 09 parade that the camera crew botched a lot of good shot opportunities (some say the director was inexperienced). So maybe these kind of rehearsal could be good practice for the camera crews as well? Well one can hope :D. Maybe they'll decide to keep some selected good shootings, just in case.

It's great that there are logistics and engineering troops in the parade, they are a critical component of the armed forces and also put their own lives at risk to serve. They deserve to be given recognition and honored together on an equal footing with the direct combat forces.

On another note does the first official revelation of a RWS on a serving Chinese military/paramilitary vehicle belong on a PAP anti-riot armored truck?

I think they are PAP counter-terrorists special force. You don't use heavy machine guns in anti-riot.

I've probably mentioned it about the 09 parade about how I prefered the live feed of the parade vs the final edit released on dvd. The camera shots close ups and panning could have been better. Heck some of the news and fan cut versions of the 09 parade had great shots and better understanding of what to focus on.

I'm hoping that they will do a better job. I work with 3D models to assess what angle would give me the best shots. I hope with all this drilling the cinematographer and director have all there shots better planned out.

A lot of western media keeps poh pohing China's peaceful raise with big military parades and demonstrations as antagonistic. But I think of one of Ronald Reagan's slogans from the 80s "Peace Through Strength". But I guess to some peace through strength is for some and not for others.
