World Cup

Since I live in Germany, the world cup madness has been going on for a few months already and I was wondering if any of you are huge football/soccer fans? How many of you plan on watching the World Cup and what teams do you like?

Personally, I am not a huge fan, but it is amazing how huge the WC is and I will definitely watch a few games. Of course I hope to see an upset or two, with the US making it at least to the semi-finals :nana:

So you're saying that Argentina and the Czech Republic will play each other in the Final?! I don't think so. :p

I'm an American, and I like to watch soccer. I'll admit it. So I'm pysched for the world cup. But the problem is that no TV stations here play anything about it. They'd rather devote 8 hours to reruns of TV shows about old Superbowls than talk about the World Cup. Which is shameful. But in the newspaper today they had a bunch of articles about it. Apparently the World Cup will really effect upcoming elections in France and Mexico.

nah, I predict Argentina will win, he predicts Czech will win. But yeah, at least in Canada, we have sportsnet and CTV showing the world cup. I guess I'm going to do nothing but watch the world cup.

The Netherlands is going to win it all! Hopefully Phillip Cocu or how ever you spell his name will be OK. But Ruud van Nistelrooy is amazing! They have a nice frontline. In Group F, I wouldn't be surprised if Brazil doesn't make it. Japan held them to a 2-2 tie in the Confederations Cup, and Austrailia looks very good after coming off a 1-1 tie aganist the Netherlands. I wouldn't be surprised if it's Japan and Austrailia coming out victorious. Group C, it's the Netherlands and the IVORY COAST. Didier Drogba is crazy and he's mad fun to watch. I see Netherlands against Brazil in the final, with the Netherlands coming out victorious!

To Finn and all soccer fans in US, this year the world cup will actually be broadcasted live on ESPN, ESPN2 and ABC, you can look at their schedule here

Re: Sports thread

holy man, I figure many people watched the game today, so I will just make this short. Frings, unbelievable goal. Lahm, great goal. Wanchope, two offside goals. Germany looked great.
