The first photos of what is believed to be the fourth variant of the YJ-18, as well as its twin-canister launcher, have been spotted. This variant is believed to be a VLS-borne, shore-based, anti-ship variant.

Hence, the YJ-18 is now believed to come in four variants:
- YJ-18: basic land attack variant
- YJ-18A: VLS-borne anti-ship variant
- YJ-18B: submarine-borne anti-ship variant
- YJ-18X: VLS-borne shore-based variant (photographed here)

The missile equips the 052D and will do likewise on the 055.

Still not clear enough to see that the actual missile looks like. However, I guess it is of similar size compared to the Brahmos.

Where did you get this information from?

Personally I'm a little surprised if this is actually YJ-18 given it seems much larger than even CJ-10. The chasis is a 12x12 compared to CJ-10's 8x8 for goodness sake.

The info was from Henri K.

I don't think it should come as a surpise that a shore-based variant would be significantly larger than even LACMs. The missile does not have to heed to the weight and size restrictions as it would have aboard a vessel, so there is no reason why it can't be larger. An AShM is essentially a LACM with an active seeker and perhaps the lack of TERCOM, is it not?

On the contrary I don't think land launched versions of missiles are usually different to ship launched versions.
If you're suggesting that what we're seeing is the land based YJ-18 and the ship launched YJ-18 is much smaller, I significantly doubt it.

After another look at the photo, I think it's possible that we've simply misjudged the size; the truck's wheels look smaller than that on the YJ-62's truck. In fact, if use the passenger window as a frame of reference and mentally juxtapose it with that of the YJ-62's truck, this missile would very roughly be the size of a "heavy" AShM (i.e. YJ-62, C-101, etc).

But again, a part of me hopes that it is the much-touted DH-2000.

The issue is that there is a variant of the same chassis that is an 8x8 wheeler (which seems to be the new chassis for CJ-10 where the three missile canisters are arranged flat), which is far shorter but with the same width as the 12x12 chassis... yet the 12x12 chassis features missile two much wider canisters than the three slimmer CJ-10 canisters on the 8x8 chassis, meaning the 12x12 chassis almost certainly has a missile which is wider than CJ-10 if not longer as well.

Compare the CJ-10 chassis to the 12x12 chassis you posted on the last page and you get a sense of just how much larger the 12x12 is and how much larger its canister is.

You are right; the mystery missile's TEL seems to be a variant of the CJ-10's truck. Granted, that does not rule out the possibility of the missile being based on or even a variant of the YJ-18.

If it does turn out to be a novel LACM, then I would expect the thing to possess far greater range than the CJ-10. It might include a larger warhead as well.
