I want to see a Chinese Hockey team participate in 2022 winter Olympics even if they suck so bad with no chance of winning. Korea and Japan both got their hockey team. Maybe one day we can see some NHL stars from China.:D

I guess we will be watching Andong Song's progress with interest.

This summer I have been watching track and field, rowing, cycling, meets in Europe and have been dissapointed by the lack of participation by atheletes from East Asia , particularly China

Hosting the Olympic Games has become such an expensive endeavor pretty soon only very very few countries can afford it.

My city actually hosted the 1904 Olympics and it ran for 5 months!

Now that's a good Jeopardy question!

I was watching the history of the Olympics on TV prior to the London one, and if my memory serves me rightly, the whole event was a farce.when only a few countries entered and most of the competitors came from USA.
The only way to trim costs is to reduce the number of events.
IMO we should do away with sports that are decided subjectively for a start and perhaps team events.

First the stadium redesign changes problem.
While Japan wants a cheaper stadium, construction material costs have risen since the city's bid won the IOC vote in 2013, Tokyo 2020 CEO Toshiro Muto said.

"There is a surge in prices for various construction material. There is higher cost and we will focus on cost reduction," Muto said.

"There will be an inflation (of prices) but we will make sure we minimize that.

"For us, the priority is to have it completed before the Olympics. We are sure and confident the stadium will be completed on time."

On Tuesday, the firm of architects whose design was scrapped said the billowing costs were due partly to an uncompetitive selection of contractors and that warnings over this were ignored by Japan.

And now the logo plagiarism problem arises. It looks very similar but still I wish they could use something more substantial and unique to represent Tokyo instead of a corporate logo look IMO. What do you guys think?o_O

Agreed. Too much similarity, IMO. The only major difference is the addition of a circle for the Tokyo 2020 logo. Otherwise, it borrows too many elements from the French logo.

The similarities of the two logos are difficult to be ignored, but there is only so many way you can play around with these type of simple graphic logo designs before you run into something resembling the design of someone else with millions of logos out there.

The Japanese designer might've plagiarised the theatre logo or just a coincidence. We can't really prove one way or the other unless you confiscate the Japanese designer's computer work, and shown that his got a copy of the theatre logo in his computer. But at this time, Japan might as well re-design a new logo to stop the controversial talk of plagiarism.

The latest doping scandal.involving indurance events in atheletics is hardly surprising. It's said to involve over 800 athletes who.returned.suspicious.blood tests over a period of years..
The London Olympicswhich had ten gold medal winners.returning abnormal results may not have been so clean.after all.

Is it time to scrap testing altogether?
