The plane on the carrier resembles the aircraft picture you also give but both do not resemble JZY-01. The tail is entirely different. JZY's tail resembles that of its USN counterpart with four vertical tail surfaces.
1st...this is not breaking news. Breaking news would be an actual picture of a real AEW aircraft on the Chinese carrier.

2nd, it is on a military coin, coins which have been discussed in the past. The AEW aicraft there is not meant to represent anything that is currently in service.

This question would belong on the "Ask anything Thread," in the NAVY section. I will move it, and my response there.

By far one of the best photos of the sub hunter yet:

Excellent photos, thanks. Propeller powered aircraft for submarine hunter would be better than jet aircraft. I am not sure whether the power required for computers and radars would be enough generated by propeller aircraft ... anybody?

How many have been produced and operational so far ?

PLA is getting better and better and improving in many (if not all) areas previously the weakest points (e.g. anti subs)

There are many different types of MPAs, AEW&C and other aircraft with powerful sensors and onboard computing, some of which are propeller driven and some being jet powered, and range from the size of an E-2 to as big as a 767 and Il-76 -- there's no reason to think whether an aircraft uses propellers or jets will inherently limit power generation given other similar variables.

At present at least one, likely two aircraft are produced and operational with the navy, not including at least two prototypes.

Nice, looks like that's the original high res pic.

Also, maybe post future pics into the AEW&C, MPA and SIGINT thread?

Yeah, I thought about posting these over at the 'AEW&C, MPA and SIGINT' thread, but Jeff Head has a point: that thread is getting too crowded with photos. With the upcoming parade, more and more are going to pour in. So I thought it was best to post them here since there isn't anything new or notable about these photos.

Guys, we have organized SD to account for almost any eventuality:

News, articles, pictures with comments or articles go:

To the Respective Equipment Page on SD.

Photos alone, videos alone go:

To the Resepctive Military Picture Thread for the respective service.

We have separate picture threads in the Military Picture forum for:

PLAN
PLAAF
PLA

PLEASE, post individual or groups of pictures with no comments to those threads.

Pictures alone, in any case are not meant for the breaking news threads in any of the forums, unless there is a breaking news article to go along with it.

I am going to start deleting individual pictures that are posted in the wrong thread without an associated article or relevant comments in the various equipment and breaking news threads starting Monday, August 3rd.

DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS MODERATION
