You guys just don't get it. The government is the authoritative body - period. You might not like the answers or you feel that it is being disingenuous with its answers. That is for Beijing to take up with Ankara to seek satisfaction. Those are the politics behind the scene. There is a process for everything.

Sometimes a government is authoritative on BS ;)

“Since the court process is going on, we are not allowed to make any statement except what the court says,” he added. “We trust [the] judiciairy system of [the] Indonesian Republic and cannot make any comment beyond that.”

In mid-March, before the trial got under way, Indonesia’s National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) said the four would be deported to China after the trial.

“They will be prosecuted. Once the indictment is completed, they will be returned to China. After that, it’s up to the Chinese government whether they want to detain them, sentence them to death, or free them. It depends on the laws in force there,” BNPT spokesman Irfan Idris told BenarNews then..
Sounds like the lawyer is saying one thing...but the Turkish government is not making a statement one way or the other.

The fact that the Turkish government is saying that they trust Indonesia, and that Indonesia is saying up front that they will deport them back to China...if I read between the lines there, Turkey is not going out of its way to try and stop it.

We'll see how it plays out.

In the mean time, let me reiterate that here on SD we are not going to allow statements to stand that the Turkish government is supporting terrorism against China to stand with absolutely no proof of any such thing.

Just base on the information we read from the articles right now, there is indeed no direct proof that the Turkish government is supporting terrorism against China. However, read between the lines, with the action and inaction. In my opinion they are at least sympathetic with the Uyghur terrorists on trial in Indonesia.

And if Turkey give out any support or interference for the Uyghurs on trial in Indonesia after the sentence with the deportation destination. It will be even more telling regarding their stance on the issue of Uyghur terrorism. As you say, we will see.........

The let's leave it at that until there is some direct proof, because the rest is just speculation.

So le me be even more clear:

While speculating about when an aircraft carrier started building, or when J-20 aircraft number 2016 is going to fly for the PLAAF is one thing, speculating about a NATO government supporting terrorism against the PRC is quite another.

The former is good natured and harmless, the latter is going to cause nothing but trouble.

SO ON SD, WE WILL NOT GO INTO SUCH SPECULATION. TAKE THAT SOMEWHERE ELSE UNTIL THERE IS SOME SHRED OF PROOF.

DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS MODERATION

The recent heighten Turkish concern for the Uyghur is linked to Turkish domestic politics. The ruling AKP party is facing challenges both from the right wing Turkish nationalist MHP and left wing Kurdish based HDP party. The AKP government want to publicly demonstrate sympathy for the Uyghur in order to beat back the challenge of the national MHP. President Erdogan even publicly hinted that the recent anti-Chinese riots in Turkey are orchestrated by the MHP to sabotage his recent state visit to China. Turkey is in a state of political turmoil right now after the recent election in which the AKP lost its majority and is having difficulty forming a coalition government. BTW, the Turkish attacks on PKK recently is also linked to the Turkish political turmoil.

A group of fighters from the Turkistan Islamic Party in Syria

The Turkistan Islamic Party (TIP), an al Qaeda-affiliated group, recently sent a message to Shabaab, al Qaeda’s official branch in Somalia, thanking them for damaging the Chinese embassy in Somalia.

The Chinese embassy was damaged in the July 26 attack on the Jazeera hotel in the capital of Mogadishu. At least one Chinese embassy worker

that the bombing was in response to “attacks and helicopter bombing against al Shabaab by AMISOM and the Somali government.” [See LWJ report,

However, according to the statement from the TIP, which has been translated by the SITE Intelligence Group, the group claims the attack was a “practical response to the aggression of the communist government of China against the Muslims in the forgotten Islamic East Turkistan.” The statement, which was posted to Twitter, continues by saying, “We the mujahideen in Turkistan Islamic Party congratulate the Islamic Ummah for this blessed operation, and we endorse it, and we encourage the Shabaab al Mujahideen Movement in Somalia to carry out more of such jihadi operations.”

The TIP is largely made up of ethnic Uighurs and fights with the aim of creating an Islamic state in the Chinese province of Xinjiang. It operates in Afghanistan, Pakistan, China, and Syria. It fights alongside the Taliban, al Qaeda, and other jihadist groups in Afghanistan and Pakistan, while in Syria, it fights alongside the Al Nusrah Front, al Qaeda’s official branch in the country. The TIP’s leaders and fighters have been

and by US drone strikes in Pakistan.

Several top leaders of the TIP have held senior roles in al Qaeda’s leadership. For example, Abdul Shakoor Turkistani, the former emir of the group, was also appointed by al Qaeda to lead its forces in Pakistan’s tribal provinces. [See LWJ report,

If anybody is wondering when it would be an opportune time to test out new Chinese weapons, this is it; nobody is going to bat an eye if Beijing decides to let its J-15s and J-16s pop their cherries on these thugs.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. World Uighur Congress still receive funding from NED every year, and every time there is a terrorist attack in China connected to Uighur, they are always quick to spin the story as not terrorism just righteous reaction against the evil commies.

Firstly, I don't think the Chinese embassy was the intended target, it just happened to be in the same hotel complex, and was hit as collateral damage.

A hasty military knee-jerk reaction could potentially make China more of a target for the more "mainstream" (to western eyes) terror organisations, who currently only pay China lip service, if that.

Frankly speaking, they are not really China's problem, and China's interests are not served by going out of its way to make itself a target for those fanatics. China has enough of problem with their own home grown jihadists.

Secondly, Al Shabaab are already on Washington's bad boys list, so if there are targets worth hitting, the US would have hit them already.

Also, we need to remember that bombs and missiles have never been great anti-terrorist weapons.

You only resort to bombs and missiles as the last resort, when all conventional means have been tried and failed.

The reason is that smart bombs and missiles are never 100% fool proof, and even if the missiles and bombs perform faultlessly, bad intel will still result in disaster.

I do agree that China needs to do more about the financiers, organisers, cheerleaders and other foreign enablers of China's domestic terrorism problem, but the problem is that a lot those people are supported, either directly or indirectly, by America or elements within the American government (not necessarily part of the current administration).

These people are often rich, influential and smart, so leave little in the way of damning direct evidence. With a sympathetic media and judiciary, what circumstantial evidence China has managed to gather is unlikely to sway a judge or jury in the west.

If anything, I think China is being a little too honest and honourable in this dirty game.

If the victims were western, you can be sure a lot of these untouchables would have had some unfortunate accidents long before now.

To expand on Wolf's post, the question we need to ask is, what is the objective behind terror attacks against Chinese targets?

While China is expanding its economic influence, it is nowhere near high on the priority list for organizations like al-Qaeda and ISIS, who are focused on creating an Islamic power in the Middle East.

So the only people with a stake against China are the Uighur and Tibetan separatists. The Tibetans do not generally have resources or motivation to conduct terror attacks Chinese targets. The Uighurs, on the other hand, do receive support from the aforementioned terrorist organizations, so they are the top priority on China's terror list.

Therefore, China's responses must be targeted toward those Uighur terror cells, with the objective of stamping out terror attacks in Chinese borders first and foremost.
