Terrorism against Chinese targets

Let's not deviate from the main topic, which is whether Turkey is supporting terrorism by issuing real passports to Uighurs who may committed acts of terrorism in China and abroad or not. We are not in a court of law to determine these men's national identities by reviewing convincing evidences.

You should be reminded that this supposedly deviation was of your initiation. You posted this as a preamble and in bold letters.

Draw your own conclusions

During their trial at North Jakarta District Court, the men last month could not sing the Turkish national anthem or name its title when prosecutor Nana Riana challenged them to do so.

I think he bolded that passage because it was this specific portion which he considered important: "the men last month could not sing the Turkish national anthem or name its title"... the fact that it occurred in a court did not mean that vincent suggested it was valid as the only evidence against their citizenship in a trial, rather he meant it just as another piece of common sense evidence for discussion.

In other words, I think we've veered way off into the wrong end of the track here because the original bolding of the passage was not meant to make any kind of position regarding its validity in court of law as the lone piece of evidence, but rather only be made in the context of common sense.

(And.... technically, brumby, you were the one who interpreted the bolded passage in relation to a deeper level of the national anthem test's legal validity. There's nothing wrong with that, and I think it was good to straighten out just who meant what... but if he posted the original passage without intention to discuss its role in a court of law but rather as a piece of common sense support for his position... then yeah, this entire discussion about legality is a technically a deviation -- especially as no one else here nor the article stated that they believed the national anthem test was valid as a stand alone test in a court of law... in which case the entire criticism of the legal validity of the national anthem test is kind of jumping the shark.)

For the simple reason that this report is about a court case and its proceedings. In my view it would be nonsensical to approach it as merely some common sense view divorce from the legality of the prosecutor's approach. It is simply horses for courses.

"He adopted a conciliatory tone in his statement after the anti-Chinese demonstrations erupted in Turkey, arguing that most of the media reports about Chinese oppression against the Muslims in Xinjiang were fabricated and it was the work of provocateurs who wanted to damage the relationship between Turkey and China.

The timing of these provocative demonstrations right before his visit to Beijing, Erdoğan said, was “rather meaningful.”

After reading through Indonesian news sources with help of a translator. The Turkish passports were considered genuine and not fake as there was no trace of any tampering whatsoever. The photographs on these passports were never a source of contention, The only fake found are the identity of the persons listed as they were unable to consistently provide the correct birth date, place of birth, or in some cases their own names among others.

Which means only the photos were switched? If so, and you have a bunch of so-called Turkish citizens who can't sing a line of their anthem or remember its name, they become suspects. I don't think they are uneducated idiots or low IQ retards.

No, it means the passports are legitimate. Most likely issued by the Turkey government

I think people need to remember that the Turkish government has employees, and are run by beurocrats. Individuals who could be bribed, or who might abuse their positions out of their own bias and convictions.

Just because those terrorists were issued with real Turkish passports is not necessarily proof positive that they enjoy the support of the Turkish government.

It could easily be the work of an individual acting beyond their remit either out of base greed or a misplaced sense of loyalty.

To jump to unfounded conclusions without adequate evidence or proof is to do exactly what we hate of the mainstream media.
