We’re going to use the term “supercar” loosely here. In just six months, 27-year-old Chinese student and automotive tinkerer, Chen Yinxi, built an all-electric supercar for just $5,000. Top speed on this amazing machine? Just 37 mph—now you know why we’re using the term supercar so loosely.
At any rate, it’s still an amazing accomplishment. While it may not have supercar performance, it definitely has supercar looks. A long sleek body with aggressive features, an extremely low center of gravity, and Lambo doors. It’s even got a supercar-like interior, too.
But the real amazing thing about it is the aforementioned build time. It only took Chen six months to hand build this machine from the ground up. It’s not road legal, unfortunately, but he told the
that’s he’s making up a lot of his build costs by leasing it out for photo and video shoots.
As for Chen himself—he’s an industrial engineer student hoping to make an impact on the automotive industry. Looks like he’s off to a good start.
