yes, greater quantity, but I think Pakistan also would get preferential rate compared to other countries.

Why would Pakistan pay less than Thailand did ? due to the quantity ?

Thailand is a very close to China, culturally, economically, military and historically

Thailand is closer to China culturally, economically, and historically. But Pakistan is closer militarily, and much more important strategically. Pakistan has been and will always get the best price and share some of the latest military technologies from China. Maybe Thailand gets a friendly discount price, but Pakistan can get items almost for free and priority.

Generally, the larger quantity would produce less price per vessel...all else being equal.

But the subs being ordered may not be equal. As tphuang said above, it may be because Pakistan is ordering a lot of add-ons and upgrades on their vessels, which would increase the cost of each.

Well let's be honest it's not like PN has a lots of money even the 4 x F22P frigates were possible only because of a China generous loan which I think Pakistan might not even pay off

But now there is a increase in the budget better allocation and more priority to the navy and Pakistan knows that the army alone can't possibly do everything like fight on the sea

Btw looks like Chinese SSK visited Karachi recently there is a very interesting development

Can Type 041 launch land attack cruise missiles?

IMINT confirms Type 041 visit to Karachi

James Hardy, London and Sean O'Connor, Indianapolis, Indiana - IHS Jane's Defence Weekly

07 July 2015

Satellite imagery has confirmed the visit to Karachi of a People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) Type 041 'Yuan'-class diesel-electric attack submarine (SSK) in late May.

Airbus Defence and Space imagery shows a Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy Type 041 'Yuan'-class submarine pierside in Karachi, Pakistan, on 28 May 2015. Also present is a Type 925 submarine tender supporting the Type 041's deployment. (CNES 2015, Distribution Airbus DS / IHS)

The imagery, provided by Airbus Defence and Space, shows the submarine alongside at Karachi's commercial port on 28 May, a few hundred metres north of Pakistan's main naval base.

The Type 041 'Yuan' class is described by IHS Jane's Fighting Ships as a diesel electric attack submarine, potentially with Stirling air independent propulsion, that is armed with YJ-2 (YJ-82) anti-ship missiles and a combination of Yu-4 (SAET-50) passive homing and Yu-3 (SET-65E) active/passive homing torpedoes.

By saying Yuan I assume you mean 039B cause I'm pretty sure 041 doesn't exist at this time point.

Yes -- you will NEVER see a type 041 submarine. You may see a type 0310 as the next sub, though, because type 039 is actually type 03-9, for example. The proof is in a commemorative pin for type 093 posted earlier by someone -- in the pin, type 093 is printed as type 09-III.
Hence the first two digit denotes ship type (conventional sub, nuclear sub, etc), and the the following digit is the class number belonging to the type.
