Okay close up on the helmet here... hmmm... I am not sure on this but I don't think this is the Type 88 PASGT. The Earlier mock ups used bump helmets arguing that the balistic protection to the head was inferior anyway, Could be a MICH clone or a bump helmet of a simmilar shape. but more modern materials mean that they could have a ECH class helmet that can stand up to some rifle rounds. Japanese Coast guard are known to wear MICH tyoes
.

The guy on the left what's he wearing on his belt?

These pics of the 2nd Izumo class, DDH-183, getting ready to launch in Japan are nice. This will mean Japan will have four such carriers in operation soon. Two Hyugas and two Izumos.

A.... A Kamen Rider driver belt??
Being brutally honest I don't know it doesn't seem to be related infantry gear though as that was either woodland or olive or dark earth colored.

The P-1 is an excellent ASW and MPA aircraft.

The Japanese build good stuff.

I hope they are successful in getting export orders for the aircraft. The P-8 is out there lapping up a bunch of that business (and I believe it should for nations like Australia and India, etc.) But there is also room for P-1 orders.

After all, you can be sure that the P-1 and the P-8 are going to work very well together as the US and Japan are pretty seamless in their ASW exercises and cooperation.

I had a Feeling it was because the man wearing it has a sheet of paper in his hand, this made me think if your at a press show and tell and your not a reporter with a note pad why have sheets of paper? Lines. This was so he could read approved announcements to the press.
