Russia at this moment has 48 Su-35S, they might order another 48.

About their camouflage

Both are official, the light blue and the eggplant colour

Borts 01, 02, 03, 04, 21, 23,24, 25, 26, 32, 34 are light blue at least to what i did look

i do not know if it is the same aircraft but it might be
Yes, I have found all of those light blues camo patterns,

But I have also been able to find a total of twelve pictures of separate SU-35 production aircraft painted in the darker blue coloring, numbers 01-12. I have all twelve of those pictures.

I expect that is more than just a Sukhoi marketing scheme. They all have full Russian insignia with serial numbers and FOF markings. I suspect this is an entire particular squadron of twelve aircraft.

I have found what looks to be three squadrons in the lighter blue camo pattern. Two squadrons that have red numbers, and apparently one squadron that has blue numbers. I currently have pictures for 19 of those aircraft.

When all four of these squadrons are completed, it will make a total of 48 production aircraft.

But it looks like one entire squadron is in the dark blue upper fuselage color and lighter blue lower fuselage.

I am going to make a Flickr Album for the SU-35 and put as many of the separate aircraft numbers as I can find.

Personally i like the light blue variant more than the eggplant one

I'm really excited about the PAK FA, and based on what I've read from ausairpower and others, the PAK FA won't be as stealthy as the F-35 but it will be able to defeat it by intelligently incorporating the strengths of stealth and maneuverability. I wonder exactly just how far out the PAK FA will be able to detect the F-35.

One was to remember that a major difference between aesa vs pesa radar has to do with how the information is communicated between devices from the antenna, and Irbis E can detect something stealthy by 90km, I would assume PAK FA would detect it at same range as the N036 is an AESA variant of Irbis E, using similar amounts of power.

Now Mirage Bruda, you better lay off your "sauce" if you seriously think PAK-FA is gonna be on par with the F-35, you must have brewed up a batch of "Shine"? No doubt PAK-FA is going to be a very fine "super Flanker", the fact that they have some difficulties perfecting their stealth regime?? ("YES, it is rocket science"), is no surprise?

So, in spite of all their proclamations to the contrary, the F-35s low observables are very good, in contrast to PAK-FA which has fallen short of expectations due to shaping or the lack there-of? That is the main reason the buy has been cut back to 12 aircraft, theres not enough additional bang for the buck to justify the added expense, and they are having money issues even prior to sanctions??? but hey, doesn't stop them from saying anything they want, and they will and do, in reality, I doubt their equipment is a third as effective as its supposed range, never the less, the F-35 will see and shoot the PAK-FA long before the T-50 has a clue the F-35 is even in the area. This bird continues to "lag", and the smaller buy is NOT going to help matters, I would say that India will be given a major role in the PAK-FA upgrades and construction, and that if PAK-FA is moved back on track, that will be a major factor.

Actually I make a very good Limoncello :).

Honestly, I was not drinking when I posted the above. However, the big question is can the F-35 dogfight if it's advanced system do not work as promoted? Or will it be a hanger queen?

BVR impossible to say since we don;t have access to all the data available but WVR I actually have to give the advantage to PAK-FA based on what I've seen so far on either aircraft but then again the F-35 was never designed as an air superiority fighter so it does compromise extreme maneuverability for other things.

The problem with the 35 is high wingloading and too much reliance on HOBS engagement for knifefight scenarios. The F35s wingloading is similiar to the F-16 with all the pylons maxxed. The thing with the F-35 in a one vs one CQC scenario is if he misses his first shot that would be it.

The F-35 is going to do fine...watch and see.

It is bringing to the table some very new fighting capabilities that are much more information centric, and which use its very good stealth coupled with its ability to maneuver when it needs it. The SU-35 and the PAK FA, both of which are simply EXCELLENT aircraft, are still geared to the 1980s and 1990s way of fighting...and they are very good at it.

Any aircraft, including the F-22 and F-35, will have to be on their game when going up against either of them.

But I predict, if the F-22 and F-35 are "on their game," and utilize the exceptional qualities they will (and do) possess, that both will be able to establish superiority over both of the Russian aircraft.

The F-22 because it simply can outfight those two even in the 1980s and 1990s style, but also itself brings information and stealth war fighting capabilities to the table that will further enhance its ability to overcome them..

The F-35 because I honestly believe that with its own abilities coupled with its weapons systems will be able to be on par with the others even in the 1980s and 1990s style of fighting...but most especially because it is going to bring info technology and sensor fusion, couple with its own excellent stealth, to an entirely new level and be able to know more about those other aircraft, where they are, what their weaknesses are, and how to get at them well before the competition can perform the same against them.

As it is, with the PAK FA, I agree that it is turning out to apparently not bring as much advancement to the table as the Russians wanted...and therefore they are probably going to be buying more SU-35S aircraft to fill the gap.

At this stage, IMHO, they are going to do that until they can improve the PAK FA and get it where they want it...if they can.

Time will tell.
