This thread is being created as a "go to" place for all forum members to find the latest announcements from the Forum Moderation Team regarding things members need to take into account and be aware of.
It can also be used by moderators to announce upcoming events of interest or general messages regarding the forum's use.
This is NOT a FAQ or a place for forum members to ask questions or post their own announcments.
Please do not respond on this thread to these announcements.
Here's the first message/announcment on this new thread to SD Forum members:
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> MODERATOR'S MESSAGE <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
We have established numerous Military Forums and threads within each of them here on SD for the Chinese Military. We also have an entire forum dedicated to other militaries, where the Forum Management has come up with specific threads for some individual military powers, and other threads for entire regions. Within that forum we have also established some threads for specific, critical individual weapons systems for discussion.
From time to time we get individual news stories that are posted as new threads regarding those militaries, or things within those regions.
Please make sure, before you post a new thread, that it does not fit into an existing thread subject matter.
If we find new threads that do, we will move those posts and close those threads. We will inform those creating the new thread accordingly. If it continues to happen, a member will be WARNED. If it does not stop after a warning, a member may be SUSPENDED.
For example, today (Feb 11th, 2014) I had to close two threads about individual news stories about Iraq and Afghanistan that were posted as new threads. We have a Persian Gulf/Middle East Military News thread. It is for those types of articles and discussions. The two threads were closed. There was (and is) no need for a new thread for every news story like that.
If you have any questions, or if you believe a particular news story absolutely has to have its own thread, ask a Super Moderator BEFORE you do so. In most cases, we will indicate that the story needs to be within the specific thread already established for that discussion.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>> END MODERATOR'S MESSAGE <<<<<<<<<<<<<<
Thanks.
As always, make sure each member reads, understands, and follows the Forum Rules. The Rules are posted as a "sticky" thread on every forum.
