sorry guys but this photo is actually a CG done by 西葛西造舰, he has done alot of top of the class CGs of PLAN ships including 055 and future aircraft carrier. he has made a claim on weibo about this photo being his and that it was made in 2013.

I think what made us all fall for this CG is that it shows the kind of activity we expected to see by now after seeing all the images about 2 years ago.

It seems to me that after the first rush of videos and images we only got to see "replays" of old exercises and haven't really seen what has been happening on the carrier for the last year or so.

So here is my question: do you think the carrier is doing this kind of exercises (involving ~6 fighters and some helicopters on the flight deck at the same time) and the PLAN just keeps it secret or are they still at a stadium were they only start some prototype jets at a time ?

Man! talk about ups and downs... I came back and saw the "new photos" of seven J-15 on the CV-16 and got so excited and only to find out a couple pages later that it was fake...:(:confused:

About the lack of info/photos of the CV-16. I concur with most of the posters here in that the most likely "hypothesis" would be an increased security compounded with the fact that the CV-16 is out to sea a lot more than before when it was stuck in dry dock for everyone to see. At this point, it would be virtually impossible for the Chinese govn't and PLAN to back out of the carrier program. I mean, let's face it. the Chinese govn't is NOT an 8-year-old boy who thinks he loves baseball, makes his mom and dad buy all the gear and gets bored after playing a couple games. Like any govn't, they gathered as much info as possible and debated and debated and debated until they made their decision. Once the decision was made, they would be full steam ahead. IMHO, they have long passed the point of no return. They have invested too much of everything, time, money, manpower, pride, for them to back out. At this point, the hypothesis of PLAN backing out of the carrier program is as impossible as the hypothesis that the CV-16 has been abducted by the aliens.

here's a close up of the CGView attachment 14161
We WANTED to believe...so we did.

It is all the more clear now, from this latest, older pic that you have posted that it is in fact a CG pic, done some time ago.

I still believe that the escort mix could have been a warning signal...but, like I said, it was otherwise so well done, and we wanted it to be so...that we ran with it.

Just goes to show you, that even here on SD, with as much expertise as we have...we can still fall prey to mistakes.

Not that this individual event tried to fool us...hehehe...no, we just got a repost of his pic and let our own desires and imagination do the rest.

I've yet to see any photos of the following from CV-16;

4) More aircraft on the flight deck..C'mon now... they've had this ship underway off and on for nearly four years and the most I'ver ever seen is four aircraft on deck. I stated years ago that it should take 3-5 years to get the ship trained up and operational.

I was right but did not know it...

I guess the fan boi's even fooled me..but I was not alone...what a bunch of jerks. What do they hope to prove by this deception?

To be fair...I believe the guy who originally did the pic was upfront about it being a CG pic.

But, these things get posted over and over...and this one ended up being posted weeks...or maybe a couple of months later, with no indication it was CGI...and people just ran with it.

...even your truly.

But, SD, living up to its reputation ferreted it out, and we ar eback in the saddle now.

Probably not Japan, Japan do have aircraft carriers....of the sort...
Their Hyūga-class helicopter destroyers and Hyūga-class helicopter destroyers can both carry F-35s. Plus Japan did have carrier operational combat experience - one of the most extensive in the past during WWII (up against USN) although they all got wipe out.....

Yeah but the Hyuga class carrier is not fixed wing aircraft carrier. They have yet to receive any F-35 B to launch from either. Operating aircraft from WW2 is no comparison to today's jet engine type planes and ammunition.

So, what do you think will come first, fully operational PLAN CBG doing missions in ECS, SCS, Western Pacific, or Indian Ocean, or the second coming? I'm beginning to think not even then.
