Me thinks those iraqi regulars don't have enough training if any at all.
Seriously, what the hell is he doing firing like that? Over the head firing is bad enough but in this case his head is not even protected and clearly expose so it defeats the entire purpose.

That's the lamest supressive fire I've ever seen assuming that was his intention. Supressive fire only matters if it's accurate to keep an enemy pinned down while you maneuver your forces for flanking etc.

It looks like an example of "Spray and pray," without much planning, discipline, or effect.

on pray and fire, that's probably how most soldiers in history of warfare fought. refer to Marshall's study of WWII infantry combat Men Against Fire, 75% of the soldiers never fired their weapon aim to kill. do the least one can, and hope to get out of the war alive. that's the natural instinct.

Which is precisely why professional and incessant training, strong discipline, and a professional and strong non-commissioned cadre is so critical.

Actually, it's a bit of murky water . Numerous psychological studies were made about behavior in combat, especially in close combat (infantry) . Professional or no , most men tend to act in interest of self-preservation . There has to exist outside motivation (political or religious indoctrination, fear of punishment, thirst for revenge, hate ... ) to propel someone to kill absolute stranger who doesn't directly threaten someone's life (or life of those close to that person) .

Snipers, sharpshooters and marksmen are especial concern . Most of those participating in the war (and scoring "kills") develop some mental disorder and even psychopathic traits. They usually require extensive counselling in order to return to normal life after the war .

A female Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) fighter stands near a check point in Sinjar. Women fighters at a PKK base on Mount Sinjar in northwest Iraq, just like their male counterparts, have to be ready for action at any time. Smoke from the front line, marking their battle against Islamic State, which launched an assault on northern Iraq last summer, is visible from the base. Many of the women have cut links with their families back home.
