China Coast Guard and Patrol vessels

China CG and Vietnam CG have joint patrol recently in the North Bay area. There were also visits onto each other's ships.

76mm on a 12k ton cutter

Good to see CCG put guns on its new builds, but 12KT "cutters" deserve 100mm guns.

Very good to see the outfitting reaching this stage.

I wonder what the total armament outfit will be? I've heard that in addition to the 76mm gun, they will also have 2 x 30mm auto-cannons and several machine guns. Also, supposedly will carry and hanger 2 x Z-8 helos.

For what? Island bombardment? Sinking civilian ships? Evading the incoming missiles? Because honestly - I can't figure out why a CG cutter would need this kind of armament aside from 'feel good' component.

For such large ships I hope they put in a CIWS or two, as well as a pair of auto cannons for surface threats. It would then be on par with many other countries' armed CG cutters.
