Depends on the mission, I would say.
The model in question has been Identified as a F15 SA Model the Saudi version of the F15E air frame suitable for Air superiority or strike operations it could have been operating there as part of CAP or launching Strikes on the coast line recent operations have been over Aden.
It could easily be that the jet was on return form a strike experienced issues the flight crew then decided rather then drop into potentially hostile territory and face the possibility of being taken prisoner or worse. the pilots diverted into the sea.

To my knowledge, there has been no claim by their adversaries that they shot down any Saudi Eagle.

The Saudis themselves announced that the plane went down with technical problems and in the absence of any adversary claim to the contrary...I believe we can count on it having had technical issues.

That is not that unusual in a high tempo strike campaign.

Yemeni Army to Win Control over Aden in Hours

Mon Mar 30, 2015 2:54

TEHRAN (FNA)- The Yemeni forces, backed by Ansarullah fighters, are on the verge of milestone victory by seizing control of the city of Aden in the South in the next few hours.
Fierce clashes are currently underway in Aden and the Army and revolutionary forces have managed to take control of many districts in the city, Al-Massa Press reported.

The Ansarullah forces have just regained control of the city of Taez, Yemen's third largest city in the North of Aden a few hours ago.

Aden is seen as the main stronghold of forces loyal to the ousted president, Mansour Hadi, as well as terrorist troops.

On Sunday Ansarullah fighters regained control over Aden International Airport after heavy clashes with the forces loyal to fugitive Yemeni President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi.

The forces loyal to Mansour Hadi had seized control of the airport only on Thursday, and German news agencies reported that Ansarullah could defeat them and took it back today.

The Ansarullah fighters also made major advances in the surrounding areas of the airport.

Medical sources, meantime, confirmed that a sum of 113 forces loyal to Mansour Hadi were killed in Sunday clashes in Aden.

Saudi Arabia has been striking Yemen for five days now, killing, at least, 70 civilians and injuring hundreds more.

Five Persian Gulf States -- Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain, Qatar and Kuwait -- and Egypt that are also assisted by Israel and backed by the US have declared war on Yemen in a joint statement issued earlier Thursday.

US President Barack Obama authorized the provision of logistical and intelligence support to the military operations, National Security Council Spokesperson Bernadette Meehan said late Wednesday night.

She added that while US forces were not taking direct military action in Yemen, Washington was establishing a Joint Planning Cell with Saudi Arabia to coordinate US military and intelligence support.

Riyadh claimed that it has bombed the positions of the Ansarullah fighters and launched attacks against the Sana'a airport and the Dulaimi airbase.

Despite Riyadh's claims that it is attacking Ansarullah positions, Saudi warplanes have flattened a number of homes near Sana’a international airport.

The frigate is a temporary place to stay. I'm thinking they will transfer at least some of them to other ships once they become available, before heading back to China.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Foreign Office has rejected rumours of sending Pakistani troops to join a Saudi-backed coalition forces fighting Houthi rebels in war-stricken Yemen.

“These are several reports in the media which are completely baseless,” Foreign Secretary Aizaz Chaudhary told a press briefing Saturday night.

A Pakistani delegation will leave for Riyadh in the next 24 to 48 hours, he said, but rejected reports that Pakistan would join the Saudi-led coalition bombing targets in Yemen, calling them “speculations”.

“The reality is that our leadership is in contact with their (Saudi) leadership, and we have proposed that our delegation will visit and assess the situation, after which we will make decisions,” he said.

“If you go by assumptions and what others may have said, I do not think it will do justice to the situation," he said.

The foreign secretary said that Pakistan has seven defence training pacts with Saudi Arabia.

“We have defence agreements with Saudi Arabia: they come here to get training and we go there to give them training,” he said.

He reiterated that Pakistan had not sent any additional soldiers to Saudi Arabia.

The foreign secretary added that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had spoken to Saudi Arabia’s King Salman on Friday night by telephone, restating Islamabad’s staunch support for the Gulf kingdom.

“The prime minister had assured the king that the safety and security of Saudi Arabia is very important for Pakistan and any threat to the sovereignty and territorial integrity will be the cause of great concern for Pakistan,” Chaudhry said.

Saudi Arabia launched air strikes on Thursday to defend the government of President Abedrabbo Mansour Hadi from the advancing insurgents.

Pakistan is a longstanding ally of Saudi Arabia with close military ties, but Islamabad has not yet committed to the operation, which has drawn strong criticism from its neighbour Iran.

I do not believe I ever read any kind of official contention that Pakistan had agreed to send troops to Yemen, or engage in combat there. That would be baseless speculation...and most probably wrong as Asif's article indicates.

But the original announcement indicated that Pakistan would support the coalition with naval assets and aerial assets. They could do that without any combat involvement of any sort.

These articles do not mention...or, IMHO, deny...a naval support level of involvement..

I believe they had it up for a few hours only then changed the map

Also the naval frigate and PIA passenger plane was for evacuation purpose not for any military operation

PN frigate has arrived at port today and is taking part in only evacuation of citizens

ADEN (Reuters) - Warships shelled a column of Houthi fighters and troops loyal to former president Ali Abdullah Saleh as they tried to advance on the southern port city of Aden on Monday, residents said, the first known report of naval forces taking part in the conflict.

They said the vessels were believed to be Egyptian warships that sailed last week through the Suez Canal towards the Gulf of Aden. Egypt is a member of the Saudi-led coalition that has been targeting Houthi positions to stem their advance on Aden, a last foothold of fighters loyal to President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

No comment was immediately available from Egyptian officials.
