Why would you think that China needs a heavy and light attack helicopters?

Because light attack helicopters do a lot more than just 'attack'.

In a military as diverse as China it is normal even expected to have both types. You don't want your heavy hitters to do the scouting, recon type missions.
You only bring out the the heavy stuff when you know for sure you need to lay waste on the battlefront. Everything else an armed scout is better suited.

Wait, we are talking about a light attack helicopter.

China is operating a general attack helicopter (Z-10) and a dedicated scout helicopter (Z-19). Alvaritus asked for a third type, which is rather pointless because even the US Marines only opearates the Viper for special snowflake reasons and other countries don't even have a dedicated scout. https://www.sinodefenceforum.com/members/alvaritus.10414/

My bad, the words "Ligth" and "scout" made me believe that there were two different roles ...with 2 diff platforms.
Now i thnk Z-19 will do both (Scoot and Light Attack)... rigth?
