This movie could turn out to be horribly bad or mildly entertaining. Great production value but other things need to worked on like dialogue.

I just hope Brody and Cusack did this movie just to broaden their audience and not because they needed the money.

I saw the movie over the Chinese New Year. It is a good movie, but did not need to be in 3D. It should have been called "Silk Road Centurions" as opposed to Dragon Blade. There is no Dragon Blade in the movie. Cusack completely disappears into his role. I did not realize it was him for 45 minutes. If Jackie Chan is in the movie, you know the fight scenes are going to be great, and this is no let down. Most of the movie is in Chinese, as Jackie Chan is the only one that can speak some English and communicate with the Romans...who also speak English for some reason. Brody is in supreme form as the Villian, Rather than 300, the film seemed more like Lord of the Rings. It is a bit long, but a good time.

They should have had Jackie Chan and the Romans speak latin for authenticity!

To be fair, most western films involving romans usually have them speak english as well. Not to mention greeks and whatnot.

That's perfectly fine if they're English films. However, the base language of this movie is Chinese, so having Romans speak English is a bit jarring. It would be like a Hollywood movie introducing a French character, only to have him speak German.

It would've been cool if they had the Romans speak Italian at least. But in terms of business the language needs to cater to the target audience so English and Chinese make sense. I forget what the percentage is but the drop off is very steep in terms of people choosing not to watch a movie because they have to read subtitles.
