PLAN Naval Helicopter & ASW Capability II

To be honest with the combination of helos we have seen recently it's a good time for China to start a large LHD/LHA building would be a great addition to form a amphibious ready group as well as a carrier strike group

Liaoning has given the naval helo industry a good start

Maybe a few years down the line we see a carrier and a LHD under construction not to mention Type 055 CG

Big ticket items are coming guys!!

I do not understand why the cargo net is places on the deck. I just don't get it. It looks like a trip hazzard to me. I know this was previously discussed...and why does it take 10 shipmates to launch or recover a helo?

Perhaps they have been having problems with their non-skid surface on that particular vessel.

The photo shown is a Ka-28 landing with net on a type 45A frigate.

I noticed that they used nets often whenever PLAN Ka-28 is landing. Also during joint China-Russian navy exercise, nets were used when Russian Ka-28 landed on Chinese destroyers as well as on Russian ships.

However, no nets were used when Z-9 landed on the PLAN ships.

There is no doubt that the net was used to prevent the helicopters skidding, could be Ka-28 is more prompt to unwanted skidding in rough sea?

This is pretty interesting
Ka-31.jpg

looks like they are putting Ka-31 on the new destroyers. i thought it might happen a few years ago when this deal was announced, but they look to be going fully on this, since CV-16 looks like it's mainly using Z-18 variants at the moment. Ka-31 could provide AEW for 052C/D against fighter jets to target against or ships to launch missiles against. Especially for the one in low altitude that would otherwise be hard for 052C/D to detect.

The navy's of both Pakistan and Turkey recently exercised together as Aman -15 is approaching

TCG Buyukada F-512 is in Karachi for a warm welcome

One picture i found interesting is that PN Z-9C was crossing decking and landed on the Turkish warship which is great to see

Here's another with the F22P in the background

I would have liked to have seen the Azmat FAC alongside the Turkish warship too

Anyone else know of the rumours on bbs stating that Z-15 is due to fly this year with a domestic engine?

It is to be used on larger PLAN warships like Type 055

Add to the advances with the Z-18 etc and other naval equipment I think naval version of the Z-15 would be a great addition to PLAN

Now if they have Z-9C, naval Z-10, Z-15 and Z-18 they could have a good helo fleet for a future flat top LHD/LHA

That's 4-5 different helos for naval use very good flexibility

Also Z-15 would make good for export too

Z-9C is good with more poweful engines so it could carry two light anti ship missiles
