Researchers in China investigate use of coal as source of lithium

Related is the research on flow batteries. How long before Chinese labs pick up the trail?
I can imagine that a wing sail vessel will collect energy by using its screw as a turbine and use that energy to power the electro-motors and computers that control the wing sails as well as use the screw for getting in and out of ports.

why remove it?

It could be a part of the advertisement campaign. If you do a Google news search, it's getting tremendous positive buzz. Maybe also since it didn't give much information on features and specs, the buzz is so high that it might be a big let down if it doesn't live up to the hype. But since this expo in Barcelona is happening this week I believe, we are bound to hear more and they'll probably release the videos again.

Chinese Firms Launch World-first Graphene Phones

Mar 04, 2015

Two Chinese firms have beaten global competition to launch phones with touch screens, batteries and thermal conduction incorporating graphene, a recently isolated material with outstanding electrical, chemical and mechanical properties.

A batch of 30,000 such phones was jointly put on sale by the Moxi and Galapad technology firms on Monday in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality.

The use of graphene can make touch screens more sensitive and prolong battery life by 50 percent, according to the producers.

The key technology for the new phones, which use the Android system and will sell for 2,499 yuan (406 U.S. dollars) each, was developed by the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Graphene is a single layer of carbon atoms in a honeycomb lattice. It was first isolated in 2004. Scientists worldwide have been rushing to test it.

China leads the world in the mass production of graphene films for phone and computer touch screens. In 2013, a production line capable of producing tens of millions of graphene films every year went into operation in Chongqing. (Xinhua)
