I myself do prefer J-20's looks. Its unconventional aerofoil (aka wing/canard/tail) placement are and probably will remain unique among 5th generation fighters for many years to come. And I also like J-20s somewhat long appearance, which some people have stated they dislike -- to me it gives off the impression that J-20 has the endurance to leave, do its mission, come home, all without needing crutches of air refuelling.

Good points, especially the endurance one. Among the 5th generation fighters, the J-20 is the biggest. I would assume that it can carry the largest amount of fuel too.

J-20, T-50, and F-22 are beautiful beasts like how all big cats are all majestic in their own ways.
J-31, too run off the mill for me, SAC made it clear it's a cost effective program, you can see everyone else are also converging to the same wing tail config. for affordable stealth fighter projects.

Looks aside, it's also how they dance with the tango.

Actually my favourite aircraft (in terms of look) is still the YF-23... looked really out of this world :)

lllchairmanlll, this is not a good start for you. In this forum, we strictly follow the simple rule of staying on topic. So if you have J-10 or FC-31 related posts, please do it in those respective threads.

Also, we do expect new members to first read up a little bit in those threads than just start off by saying "China is bad" or "China is copying everything". Not the most productive type of conversation. Anyway, welcomed to the forum, but if you keep going off topic, I will have to issue a warning.

Thx for the headup and btw, I wasn't talking about FC31 ( nor how it could be heavily influenced by other aircraft) purely if you take a closer look at what I was saying. Based on facts and Bill's article, I tried to answer the question of a particular aircraft design agency's ETHOS, that is how they design aircraft in last decades in correlation to what they came up with.

Also, I briefly talked about the J9 project behind J20 and why J9 is a such important factor that shouldn't be ignored when anyone starts to talk about J20. The logic is simple, that is you do not judge an airplane simply by either how it LOOKS or what its designer claim how good it is, you need to know some basic history and its ethos of that design agency before you jump into details of aerodynamics and so forth. So, if I violates some kind of rules of off topic, I am sorry and I will stay on topic next time. My intention is simple (and I am not the one who brought up the "HACKING" problem, nor a fan of it), that is to let more people know (apparently not everyone here knows) some very basic history of China's two main aircraft design agencies to let them better understand what they are talking about before they talk about it.:)

Judged from the comparison btw 2001 and 2015, the main weapon bay could be expanded quite a lot. It is very interesting to think about how the PLAAF will use J20 in the future? There are some speculations revolved around the role of J20 that PLAAF might want it to be a long range interceptor that is capable of competing with F22 within the range of first island chain and at the meantime, still have a better A2G capability than F35.

In case anyone is interested, some J20 simulation discussion

Yes it's just a simulation; no one but the manufacturers and respective air forces know the true specs. But still interesting to see the results (based on most likely/probable specs). Hardware wise J20 seems very competent; providing pilot skills are equal.
I am curious to know what China will be doing to bring up the level of skill of it's future J20 pilots. Would be awesome to see the J20 in some Red Flag type wargames
