Well, they certainly have not given up on it. Many "anti-CCP" groups including the FLG for example live off Taiwanese money.

Militarily, yes, the ROC military is pretty much focused on retaining what they have left, and hold on long enough before US military can come to aid. But none of the ROC government agencies assigned to the task of retaking the mainland has been abolished, and these are very much alive and kicking.

I once had a very entertaining conversation with a FLG activist handling out flyers and chatting up with any Chinese face he saw on the street. I initially wanted to avoid him, but a friend---she is also Chinese---responded to him and they started talking. He immediately got to the standard tone of do we know how cruel CCP was etc. The girl asked if he thinks what he does is good for China, and He repeatedly claimed that he was all very patriotic towards China, and that he is only against the CCP etc. So at that point, I became curious, so I asked him about his stance on Tibetan separatists, since it was 2008 and there was big TI activities then, as you all no doubt remember---silence. I then asked him about his stance on the issue of Taiwan, again a long silence. So I asked him if it is okay to say that his organisation FLG does not support the Tibetan Independence movement, and does not support Taiwanese independence. He immediately said: "no you cannot, and I have NEVER said such". So, I then said, "in that case, would you say FLG supports Tibetan Independence or Taiwanese independence?", again a long silence, no answer. So finally I asked: "Are you guys receiving funds from Taiwan?". He said "no", and walked away almost immediately.

Why would Allen D from San Francisco need to hide his identity? Like hiding his name makes him harder to find to have his rights at risk than staying in such a "hotel" in the first place? Essentially it's a fabricated story that the media knows and reported it anyway. The finest journalism in the world...

I thought that first video that "girl" was perplexing. She runs around like a little child but that voice... I thought someone else was yelling but she sounded like a man or an old Chinese woman.

Those videos are only news to people that only read mainstream western media on those Occupy protests. Those of us that kept up with local media, or any reports in Chinese would've known this pretty much from the beginning.

Those of us who experience the BS ideology of them Frankenstein of Fascism and Anarchism, and on a daily basis to boot, we know way better of what these insurgents truly are.

If their thuggish way is democracy, as they claim to be, then it'd only backfire on the whole democratic movement in far worse fashion then anyone can imagine. I can bet, that if Szeto Wah could see now that all his life's work are now being undone, not by the government, but by these insurgents whom his pupils are amongst them, he'd be turning in his grave now.

The whole Next Media Group has such a track record of doing something like that, but if he wants to steal some limelight from the Charlie Hebdo attack and paint his opposition camp as victim in the same calibre, then they clearly mistaken - a couple of Molotov cocktails on the front gate is nowhere near the bloodspill of 12 men dead and 11 wounded in Paris, period.

To be anywhere close, he'd need to hire a few gunmen, made them look the part as pro-government folks (whom are, as his faction so earnestly dehumanized), gun down a few interns or post-grad jokarlists (the big wigs are "too valuable to die", if you catch my drift), shout a few rehearsed pro-government slogans, stuff like that...or, instead of a couple pitiful Molotov cocktails that lit a fire smaller than typical wax burning (a dangerous act that could cause serious burns, thus long since outlawed), a satchel or two of IED packs with at least 2kg of C4/PETN/ANFL...or something like that.

HK people should know, that in the post-911 era, the yardstick for genuine terrorism is very high now.

There's a clip in this report of the firebombing of Jimmy Lai. Yeah they had a camera ready and there was bystander watching. And notice the firebomber throws it on the ground and not any structure. What more says fabricated!
