Some chinese will think Mao is God, and others will think he is devil. So take your pick.

Yeah, take your pick. My impression is that Mao (and other modern Chinese leaders) is viewed in general with at least the understanding that they tried to improve the lives of Chinese--they meant well. Of course, each had their (possibly very large) failures.

in my years (1st to 4th grade), there is no social studies or history, these, or political indoctrination as I would like to call them, are intertwined into the language course. The version given to me was heavily sensitised, and mentions none of the failures of Mao.

However, to make things clear, US social studies and history courses are also heavily filtered for politically "incorrect" contents.

his popularity is increasing as more people forget about the mistakes of teh culteral revoulation and great leap forward. In china the differance bewten
rich and poor are increasing because of this the equality and reletive stability the Mao era repersented is increasing in popularity. All classes of chinese society also respect him for driving the westerners out:china:

P.S the great leap forward was never the greatist famine in the 20th century western figures on this range from absurd to absoultly pathetic

on a side note, did anyone notice that good ol' Mao is on ALL the bills now? It sure wasn't the case back in the days.

I have a question for those who are still living in China right now.

Though the above pic is just a joke, I have no doubts that there is serious censorship in China. Can those living there elaborate on the internet situation, i.e. to what extent does the 'Great Firewall of China' work?

My grandpa absolutely hates the Japanese for what happened back in the day, and would not touch/eat/do anything of its origin. But once he said that when Mao was in power, the standard of living was so poor that it probably was better to live under Japanese occupation.
Just 1 point of view.

Apparently the 'Great Firewall of China' works very well against the "Huns", as your pic says "Forbidden-403"

Yeah...are you Chinese guys at any risk of getting your account shut down or something if you are on here? Is this something the CCP would dissapprove of?
