In any case, the new prototype also used the light grey paint scheme instead of the black one, what's the indication?

Well I'm not sure what the last two posts refer to, because 2011 was painted grey as well. It would be expected for subsequent prototypes to be grey as well.

Well, if the PLAAF finally serious about the low-vis paint scheme, then perhaps they should make the low-vis version of the insignia as well.

It's a very minor operation yet they still haven't get to there.

The only reason I'd like them to have a lower visibility roundel is for coolness' sake. It's a very minor operation with an even smaller, near negligible effect on the job these planes are meant to do. Lower vis patches on camo battle uniforms, now that is a whole other matter.

I'm still not sure what you mean by the new prototype using the grey paint rather than the black. Are you saying you think it's strange?

Well, I suppose you're wondering if possibly this aircraft is closer to "production" configuration???? and we could all say an emphatic yes, it is very likely a much more "finished" aircraft than the two darker painted first flight aircraft, maybe closer to a stealthy finish as well???

What I mean is, if they've RAM coating in light grey (or in genaral, shades found in air superiority paint scheme), why not test them on the "2001" prototype? Was it because the material breakthrough only made recently or due to other reasons?

Design features' changes in subsequent prototypes are commonplace in any project, alas by how far the Project 718 progressed to is anyone's guess, because officially "it doesn't exist" if you know what I mean.
