We had some of the kids and their kids come over. Four out of our five children came, two staying from Thursday night until Sunday evening. We had six of our nine grandkids over.

Lots of visiting, eating, playing games...a big feat Friday (the 4th) at 5 PM or so, followed by watching the local display from our front porch at about 10pm while our two sons and a son in law set off all the fireworks they had bought. Lots of Thanksgiving for our freedom, that we have plenty to eat, decent jobs, etc.

Great time.

Lately here the temps have been going up. We broke 100 degrees for the first time on July 2nd. Been at or over 100 every day since. Usually here, by September 1st it starts to cool off rapidly...so it is not too long.

Uh oh! I just bought this on impulse and now I don't know what to do with it LOL

In the financial world this would be called a very bad ROI where you have to invest 10X more after the initial purchase to get it to work.... :p

Jeff know of any good websites that sells reasonable paints, compressors, sprays and other tools?

It's been 25 yrs since I last built my last plastic model.

Depending on how many models you think you are going to make, it might be cheaper to just grab a few spray cans instead of getting the entire compressor and air brush set up. I get all of my model paints and tools from local hobby stores.

That will depend on where you are, I know a couple online stores in Ontario, Canada (they also have stores fronts around where I live). It's probably not worth it to do international (or even inter-provincial/state) shipping for these stuff.

Kwaig, the 1/196 Scale Constitution is a great model, and will make an excellent display. It comes with a lot of detail...and you can find a LOT of after market stuff to spruce it up even more if you want.

I have a 1/196 USS Constitution...but it is not the Revell plastic model, it is a wood model with fabric sails, and had to be completely rigged.

As to web sites, there are numerous ones and it depends on how qucikly you wnt to get the stuff.

US stores cost more but shipping is very reasonable. Chinese, Japanese, etc. sttores are cheaper, but either you pay an arm and a leg for shipping, or you get it several weeks out. Here are a few (there are a LOT more):

Perhaps you could leave it with the towns charity organisations who are always welcoming of gifts to hand out at Xmas time to the less fortunate children.

Thanks for the info.. Much appreciated.. I want to get back to building these hobby kits again. Maybe it's a mid life crisis but sure is much cheaper than getting a hot rod or a vette or even guns for that matter... lol when the zombie apocalypse hits I'll get a few for fun then I'll probably switch sides. Don't want to be the last few remaining humans left anyway.

I did the guns thing most of my life. Used to load my own and had all the tools. Sold the reloading equipment about 15 years ago. So, to this day, I have adequate for my needs...and as long as you take care of them...my grandkids will be enjoying them.

When I was a teenager, one of my brothers and I tricked out a nice 1969 Dodge GTS with a big V-8, glass packs, a Holly 4-barrell, and nice wheels and tires. This was 1973 or so. A lot of our hay hauling money went into that thing. Really enjoyed it all through college. Once I got married...I got more domestic! LOL!

Now I do the models (which I also did when young). Really enjoy iot and my project of doing full CSGs of every modern naval power will keep me buys for a long time.

If the end times come, I will fight for the right to the last, no matter who it is, either until the Savior returns, or I expire. If it were zombies...well, I'd take one to the cranium before going over.
