two new openings were cut out, actually. seems like a comprehensive suite. a towed array (passive) on the right, and a variable depth (probably active) sonar on the right. should be quite potent, if tech is modern.

which 054A is this? We've already seen this VDS on the 10th 054A from HD.

Not sure but I think it is recent. A type 56 was parked beside it.

Recently, some friends in the shipyards captured a Chinese 054A frigate photo shows the stern of the ship's suspected there was a newly opened door. Some analysts believe that this is likely to try to improve the Type 054A frigate, stern doors are often added in order to facilitate delivery towed sonar device, intended to strengthen the anti-submarine capability.

So, what new features did you see on the Jangkai II to believe it's a II+? I'm not seeing it.
He thinks that the covered CIWS on the FFG in the background is a Type 1130 as opposed to a Type 730. Eleven 30mm barrels as opposed to seven. The Type 1130 is the one on the carrier:

It does appear to be bigger...but that could just be suggestion. I would be surprised if they put two 1130s on the FFGs. We would have to see it uncovered to know for sure.

Not sure if credible but apparently type 054A pennant number 578 will have two 11 barreled gun CIWS.

Perhaps smoke and flame may be an issue with its current placement position?
Well. for the Type 1130 it will be more than just the larger footprint on the deck.

The 1130s are significantly heavier, and the magazine has to be bigger too, to accommodate the many more rounds necessary to feed the 11 barrels. So...until I see them actually installed and uncovered I will remain dubious.

As to the missile launcher...yes, they would have to accommodate the back blast and heat for them.

I would keep the two CIWS 30mm uns and add a single missile launcher on the centerline, aft of the funnel on the forward part of the deck over the hangar...if there's room.
