590 (Weihai) has been inducted into service.

Its been a while, we haven't had any update on construction list.

I lost the counts here, if I am not wrong 20 are already in the water & 12 under construction???

11 056's are now active in the fleet.........and a few more should be joining in the next few months, as they had a similar time build to boat no '590' which has just been commissioned. See wikipedia for the full list.

This is good. These Type 056 corvettes will take up the tasks of both the old Type 037 and the Type 053 Jianghu's. This will free up the Type 054's and other ships for more blue water activities.

All 20 hulls from this order have already been built or in process of building, quite impressive in less than two years. It will be interesting to see what followup order will result and what additional type of changes will accompany such an order.

They are pumping 1 per month so I guess the production will run until next year for 36 units

Maybe different variants though
