JF-17/FC-1 Fighter Aircraft thread

1. In case someone needs a well-established airforce to provide confidence in FC-1 / JF-17, they can look at PAF and its commitment to buy more than 150 (upto 250) units. A large number of Pakistani engineers were part of the development team. PAF's commitment and participation in this program has made an F-7 replacement plane into a capable 4th. generation aircraft.

2. PLAAF has access to J-10 which is tailored to Chinese needs. Why would they induct FC-1 / JF-17? Also notice that Pakistan's interest in J-10B has waned essentially because JF-17 has turned out to be a good bet.

3. How many F-104 did USAF induct? How did that impact its success in other AFs?

4. Pakistan was launch customers for a number of Chinese systems. PAF's experience and success was taken as a vote of confidence by other AFs and that is why we see A-5, F-7 (and its variants) to be successful export aircraft.

5. The program is young, and likely customers would first like to see the direction of development before buying it.

Even though there are plenty of nay-sayers, with somewhat reasonable arguments pertaining the sale of JF-17 Thunders. There is not one single case that can outright prove that JF-17s won't make any sales.

True that the PLA Air Force may not be looking to buy any JF-17 Thunders. But then, the aircraft doesn't fall under their strategic requirements. You tell that from just looking at the type and class of combat aircraft they're currently operating. Be it the J-11s, J-10s, JH-7s or the J-8IIs, all are big aircraft and all have a considerable operational range compared to the JF-17 Thunder.

However, this does not mean that the JF-17 Thunders are in any way inferior or not capable of performing their role as a multi-role combat aircraft. For the countries concerned about the Thunder's operational range, will be made aware that the Thunder is to be equipped with IRF capability. Also, if anyone remembers, the MiG-29s (earlier production) were known to have limited range. New models, like the MiG-29 SMT or MiG-35s have been modified to have greater combat range. The same can be done and is being addressed for the Thunders.

For all intents and purposes, the argument against the Thunder's future sales, is inconclusive.

There is a very strong possibility of an announcement of a firm sale for the JF-17 Thunders with an Asian country. When it happens, it would prove that there is no such thing as the Thunders won't sell because of this, that or the other reason. Time shall prove that the nay-sayers were wrong in their assessment of the Thunders.

It would take sometimes before people have confidence on the Chinese products.

I used Samsung phone and Fujitsu computer before. I shifted to Infinix phone (cost me 1/3 of price with similar 4 core CPU) and Lenovo computer (i7, 17" screen cost me USD750). All of them serve the purpose well.

Chinese missiles also attracted attention lately after the video showing how they shoot at the tanks and airplane in ME.

jf-17 bundled with cm-400akg was a major attraction at DAS 13, not to mention the aggressive aerobatics done by WC Ronald. Got many interested, even Saudis ;)

Better late than never. Hopefully this will help the J-31.

I think WS-13 is never late. JF-17 make for PAF was originated designed to export first with RD-93 engine. China on the first day onwards of the first production JF-17 handed to PAF all the while maintain engine supply from Russia is never the issue. But naysayer do like to nitpick on this issue but nobody seems to question muchof gripen source of engine supply.

Plus China and Russia relationship is all time high and do not forsee it will deterioriate quickly and affect engine supply. This is also one of the reason J-10A continue usage of AL-31F from Russia.

I think it's probably the opposite the J-31 now is a top tier project and as such WS13 will be more focused on as a result JF-17 will benefit

Either way WS13 will be a welcome addition to Block III units
