JF-17/FC-1 Fighter Aircraft thread

It would be nice if we added a fleet of Y-9 transport aircraft for the PAF special operations units for rapid deployment in areas where they are required

12 such transports would be enough to transport a roughly 1,000 soldiers of a elite fighting unit

They could even depoly abroad in joint deployments with other nations

That was just a thought on my part

Also I think Pakistan needs to expand its nuclear arsenal massively to cover for not only the Amry but the Air Force and Navy too

What does "close to winning orders outside Pakistan" mean? How close is close? Who are the customers?

Most of the potential buyers of JF17/FC-1 are developing/third world countries. They want 3rd generation fighters but don't have the money to buy Mig-29 or Gripen. So they turn to China for FC-1.

Military purchases are often secretive, unless the media report them, we would never find out until some pictures leak by fanboys.

What are the reasons poor countries are staying away from the JF-17? Capabilities? Quality? No battlefield track record? You'd think an inexpensive, jack-of-all-trades 4th Gen fighter would be popular with Third World AFs, but not so with the JF-17.

Lack of PLAAF orders? China really has no track record of up to date, combat proven military aircraft. The best china can do is to show a large, well financed, and relatively technological adept Air Force - her own - was willing to commit to an aircraft. But in the case of JF-17, the Chinese Air Force has not shown a willingness to commit to it. This coupled with Chinese combat's aircraft's lack of track record, probably makes smaller air forces with little resource, and living in fear of being taken advantage of and being saddled with a lemon, feel queasy.

I think the biggest obstacle is again money from preventing these 3rd world countries commit to JF-17.
JF-17 are indeed a 4th gen platform that will need significant investment to realise its potential. AWACS to give early warning and direct attack. Aerial tanker to give its additional leg. New doctrine involved BVR and additional training like ECM besides the normal dogfight.

Just mentioning these few are enough to potential buyer with limited hard cash a headache.

Lacking real war record is not a good deterrent from buying Chinese military hardware. Chinese weapon like PL-45 SPH, A-100 MRL , J-7 fighter , wing loong UAV still manage to get sold abroad despite lacking real combat record. Whats most.important is demonstrated during trial that your hardware able to meet the customer requirement.
