I agree, Type 052D construction continuing along with the emergence of a carrier construction programme is something we can look forward too this year followed by the emergence of a Crusier later in 2015 or 2016

We have seen the large replenishment pretty much this year and I hope we see some LHD and LPD in 2015 and 2016

So basically we are almost there I reckon within 12-24 months the situation will be crystal clear if it already isn't it's just so exciting!

Where would the excitement be if PLAN revealed thier programmes like other world navy's!

IMHO, don't think that HP could handle any thing beyond 5-6K tons, due its limited space capacity.

Hence, there is a BIG question mark on 40+K tons.....

The fact is HP has three bases.it can built more than 200+k tons vessel in another two bases. So 40+k it's a peace of cake for HP.

Plenty of space yes but thats not militray warships it's civilian cargo ships, big difference

Warships construction and civilian cargo is a big leap, warship construction takes a lot of high end resources

Exactly, no way Huangpu would ever build replenishment ships.

They are done by Guangzhou Shipbuilding (GSI): 23 04 20 N 113 15 04 E.

When CCTV do military documentaries, they can really do them right.

Nice video, lots of good footage of HQ-9 firings, type 730 firing etc.

And it also confirms what we know about 052C having TAS.

However, it is rather surprising that 150's CIC still seems to use the same overall design and even the same consoles as the original two 052Cs, I would've thought they'd switched them out by now or at least reworked the CIC a little. But maybe the footage wasn't from 150 and was transposed from footage of the earlier two 052Cs, who knows.

If you have the time, this is an excellent Chinese video (23 minutes) about the PLAN surface combatant fleet, and about the Type 052D as well. I cannot understand the vast majority of it, but the video clips and images are impressive themselves.

Anyone seen the Lanzhou (DDG-170) side by side with the Changchun (DDG-150)? They were commissioned about 9 years apart, so it'd be interesting to see quality and workmanship differences between the two.
