Thats Beriev Be-6, a flying boat of soviet orgin....i rarely seen pics of it and never in chinese colours so thanks for posting it. The design crew in soviet union to Be-12 and chinese went their own ways by making the Harbin SH-5 Flying boat....

Chinese anti-AEW missile?

Ok, let's try this one again here: I have read in a thread in this forum that India and Russia have been working on a ultra long range AAM, specifically designed to bring down AWACs and other aerial targets of high value (KS-72?)

My questions:
1. Has the missile been put into commission in India or Russia?
2. Is China intending to buy the system?
3. If not, is China in the process of building its own "anti-AWACS" missile?

Novator bureau in russia has been developing KS-172 in the 90s but so far it has all remained on testing and prototypes. a bit more you can read here:

to answer your questions:
1. No.
2. No. (at least until it actually gets produced)
3. No, or at least no info of such nature has ever been publicized. As far as we know, china is not developing such a system.

Hey Popeye,

I understand the US has 10 carrier wings. But I've also read the USNavy has 8 Nimitz class CVNs, 2 Kitty Hawk class CVs, the John F. Kennedy CV, and the Enterprise CVN.

That's 12 altogether. So are two carriers mothballed? Or have they recently been scrapped? And which two carriers are they?

(Personally, I've read the specs on the JFK, and I don't mind seeing it go)

Hmm..... I was surfing CDF when i found this



At first sight i thought this was an early SSN, but then it said that the thing had 650mm tubes? Can someone identify this?

It looks quite large for a conventional SSN, especially using the old hull design.

Or was someone simply bored out of their mind?

Yeas...this is soviet SS-128 (Project 633RV), a converted Romeo class submarine to test the new 650mm torpedoes and RPK-6 Vodopod (SS-N-16 Stallion) ASW missile system. It was renamed PZS-50 and was at leat 2003 still afloat.

Well as we can see that the russian latest fighter are su-27+ and anything newer than mig 29, but the thing is all of them are twin engine fighter, so the question is are there any new gen single engine russian fighters????

nothing recent projects (as well as there isent any clear schedule about multible engined warplanes...) But the orginal Su-37, I-2000, and the MiG-33 where considered in the past

Hmm... I was going to this site today when i saw the random picture feature at the head of the forum, I was browsing for a while when i got to the ming section.

I couldn't download the pics for some weird reason but in the gallery were three distinct models of mings.

One with a sharp head that bends down in ward creating an acute angle.

One that has the sonar (i believe) sphere in the head portion.

And one that combines the two features with a small bend in front of the sonar.

Can someone tell me their models?

I would also like to know why the are shaped, and why all models were phased out in the song.

Does anyone also know why the noise-reducing tiles of the mings are not fitted on the songs? You can clearly see the red underbelly exposed and there are pics of rust on the bowls of the ships when in port. And why are they still using the flooding ports? I though the first flooding grates were used on the hans and later experiemented on mings?

Could a mod decrease/delete my pic? kinda annoying.....
