Have you noticed this paragraph?

The shipments were small, the Western officials and rebels said, amounting to no more than a few dozen missiles. And rebels said the Chinese shipments have been plagued with technical problems, and sometimes fail to fire. The first FN-6s were seen in the custody of groups under the Free Syrian Army banner, suggesting that they were being distributed, at least initially, to fighters backed by the United States and not directly to extremists or groups with ties to Al Qaeda.

They said "made-in-china" is not good, and sometimes, even fail to fire!

The Syrian civil war has provided good advertisement for the missiles insofar as they work as advertised and not plonked 50 feet in front of the shooter as we had seen with the Javelin in Afghanistan. I wish they have the latest version of the HJ-8 but that would be overkill.

yeah reason why FN-6 has not been as succesful is simply because they have not been supplied as generously as HJ-8, Saudi Arabian intelligence officer was warned by CIA not to supply any MANPADS but ATGM are ok, however a early shipment of FN-6 did reach Syria and the videos we are seeing are from those early shipments

CIA have bad memorys of Stinger deals in Afghanistan during the 1980s so they are reserved to allowing only ATGM as the only high end weapon to the rebels, CIA decides who gets what Saudi Arabia is funding them via a third party (Sudan) and transferred by Turkey, theres many players in this puzzle not to mention the country of orgin of these weapons which is China

btw the last video of a aircraft which shows a fire ball looked like a aircraft that had been clipped by a air-to-air missile, MANPADS hit and cause a flame but dont burst the aircraft into a fire ball like in that video, that is probably the Turkish F16 kill, missiles like Sidewinder just rip straight through thier targets completely destroying them, very fast and very deadly, MANPAD does not have that kind of effect

I find it strange if they say the FN-6 are bad quality, why use them especially if they cause fatalities? The rebels want Western weapons. If they already have FN-6s, why would the West give them their MANPADS. Plus also don't discount these videos have been a plus for advertising Chinese weapons. China's problem with arms exports is reputation. Some people don't want China to become the less expensive alternative to equivalent arms. You don't think there's going to be smearing from the competition?

I wish there are videos of dud missiles since no system is 100% perfect.
you will never see that video. These are propaganda videos meant to try and draw attention, recruits, more arms, money, and political will to there cause. Its a common feature of modern warfare to show the "Glory" of their cause. YouTube, Twitter, Facebook and all the other modern social networking as been a game changer in resistance and terrorist groups availability to the masses.

If any such videos exist in the first place. I would not put it beyond the rebels to make up stories about how the MANPADS they got were no good in order to try and get the Gulf States to give them more 'replacements'.

If the rebels are willing to launch a false flag chemical attack on their own people to try and get the US to come and fight their battles for them, a little lying about the quality of FN6s to try and get more MANPADS is nothing at all to these people.

Are there any videos of other MANPADS being used because I read they're in the hands of the rebels also. Every time I read a story in the media about Syrian rebels and their MANPADS and they post videos it's always FN-6s.

Hi Wolf,

Don't be so defensive about the quality of the FN-6. Your product isn't bad because of one person says that it's bad. At least, they've not shown any fail launch yet. All launches shown so far are successful and hit their targets. Sometime, I even doubt that it's the rebels or the media who said that FN-6 is bad in quality.
