Soldiers from the 1st Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment, are conducting a month-long exercise which is focused on platoon level collective training with enabler integration. first all these Troops are in UPC which with out eaven reading the caption tells me they are in non Combat zones. Caption tells us this is one of the Islands of Hawaii.
pic two note the M249 in the fore front it has a Anpeq15 on the side and A M4 style stock. this is not the same stock as a M4 obviously as It would not fit. Wha? No optic?

PACIFIC THUNDER 2012 is an annual two-week exercise where members of the 33rd and 31st Rescue Squadrons met up with the 25th Fighter Squadron and multiple other units at Osan AB, to test CSAR tactics to prepare for real-world emergency situations.
