That`s old photo taken back in late March this year. We see HP 8 (574) and the first 056 (second picture)!
Poster should say that this is old pictures, when he post them...

Do those photos show a cold-launched missile? There's a clump of smoke nearest the ship that could be from the cold ejection system, then another clump of smoke a few meters up that could be from the rocket engine ignition.

054A carries hot launched VLS, so these missiles are definitely hot launched.

What's the point of posting those old photos? It will give people the false impression that another 054A is under construction.

Haven't been keeping track but does this mean aside from the new hulls at the docks being fitted out, there are currently no more 054A hulls under construction? If so, does this signal an end to its run? Or simply a break as the shipyards have switched to mass producing 056s?

Its good that they stopped 054A production since they want to standardise the VLS system. 054A VLS. Will not have a long future.
Building more of type052D is the way to go.

So far the only hull that's not in the water is #16 at HD. Previous photos of alleged HP hulls turned out to be other ships. I believe the 054A production has been concluded at the moment and if no new hulls showing up at HP by the end of the year then it's safe to say we have a break. Which also means the next 054 they make will likely to be the B version with new VLS. HP has demonstrated that it's perfectly capable of maintain both 056 and 054 production with the current assembly lines. It's the same at HD since 056s are being built at what's essentially a different shipyard across the river.

054A and 052D are two different role ship. 054A will be good enough in the next 20 years at least, it's a modular design, so easily upgraded anyway

Again, excellent pics. I hope we see more of such tests and training exercises. I have always believed that the Type 054A is amongst the best FFGs (Treu FFGs, not the DDGs that are classigfied as FFG for political purposes) out there.
